Comment:

104D with Professor Bly is not easy. This is probably the hardest I have ever worked for a B. Professor Bly is flexible, offers 1 late paper and 1 re-write per quarter and is helpful in office hours. I learned a lot in this class, which will help me as a teacher in the future. Do not take this class unless you are serious about becoming a teacher.

WORST UWP teacher. She is rigid, MEAN, condescending, and an incredibly difficult grader. Her take on writing is boring, dry, and unimaginative. She thinks she's clear about what she wants, but then grades to a different standard. You might do well in her class if you exactly follow her way of doing things, but grading seems random and nitpicky.

I like writing but this professor is super picky about everything. She likes things a certain way and is kind of rude about it. She explains everything really clear in class so she detests questions. Not very approachable for help, her tone is a little condescending. I don't recommend her if you're not okay with a grade below a B/B-

I have never left a review about a professor here at Davis, but this is a special case. People told me UWP 101 was going to be hard, but this is on a whole other level. She grades extremely hard, picks out all the things wrong in a paper, leaves little feedback, and harsh tone during lecture. Pick another professor if you enjoy writing.

I hate this class. grading is so hard. She talks about becoming a teacher and the qualities a teacher should have however, after taking this class, you will lose the care to attend. After taking a quarter of UWP 101, I really like writing but after taking this class I lost my motivation to write or care about my writing.

The structure of her class makes writing soo much easier and allows you to progress. Furthermore, it is really centered around your own career aspirations and personal objectives, making it one of the most meaningful classses I have ever taken.

Easily the worst professor I've ever had. She rolls her eyes, talks down to students, and is rude in general. She spends half the class period complaining about things that bother her. DO NOT take her class. Extremely knit-picky and unfair grader. She will grade you down for things that are perfectly acceptable.

I agree with most of the comments made here about her unreasonable and questionable grading criteria. Absolutely absurd nitpicking of minor details that does not focus on what matters. Essentially, she is a teacher who teaches about teaching but does not embody the qualities of a good teacher. The irony. Truly, what a very discouraging experience.

DO NOT take this professor. She finds every flaw in your papers and never gives you feedback on the good qualities of your writing. Her grading is harsh. I spoke with 11 people of out the 18 in the class and no one got a grade higher than a B- in her assignments. You can challenge yourself with a professor who is helpful and encouraging.

i feel like she plays favorites; she decided on the first day of class that she just didnt like me, no reason. i was on time and when i wasnt i always explained myself. i participated and turned in good assignments. yet she only focused on my flaws and made me feel bad. she mean-mugged me all quarter. bad experience.

Unquestionably the worst writing teacher i have ever had. She does not care about her students and she does not make any reasonable attempt to teach students what an A would be and is unhelpful and general with all comments. Do not take this class with her as the teacher if you value your GPA

I have to say, one of the rudest and most anal teachers I have ever had. Instead of giving an instruction like a normal person, she would draw diagrams and treat us as if the only means of communication was by treating us like we're 4. What everyone says about her grading is true and she has pushed any interest I had toward teaching. Avoid her!

Very mean and bitter. It seems like she is always talking down to me. Everybody else in class thinks that she is mean as well. If she wasn't giving me a subjective grade, I would have spoken up. But be warned, do NOT take her! I know this class is required, so switch to uwp 101 if you have to. Just avoid her at all costs!!!!!!!
