You'll write three main papers, but he gives very good feedback. As long as you go to class and be somewhat respectful you'll have a good time. The material he teaches is mostly interesting+ he's a fantastic lecturer who mixes in a decent amount of humor. If you hate writing this isn't the class for you, but I would definitely take this for credit.

Probably my favorite professor at Elon. He's so nice and understanding, and he's absolutely hilarious. If you have a chance to take a class with Mike, you should. You learn a lot, but as long as you participate and do the readings and try, you'll do well. He assigns a few papers throughout the course, but none are ridiculous or too hard. Great prof

My favorite history teacher. He's passionate and knowledgeable about the context of history. He's funny and relatable to the students. He cares about what his students say and is very friendly. There are assignments every day but they're graded for completion. Would take again anytime I get the chance.

Caringnan is awesome and really funny. If you read the readings, pay attention in class, and take notes, you should be fine. However, he does grade pretty harshly on the papers. Make sure everything you talk about is directly related to the question!

Mike's a great professor who really cares about his students. For the most part lectures are engaging and funny. He is very clear about paper guidelines and does writing workshops in class for a chance to get early feedback. If you don't do the readings, discussion and papers will be a big struggle.

Mike is a very funny professor and HST 112 is the most interesting history class I have ever taken. He has a critical perspective on history and really makes you think about the world (both past and modern). The only drawback is that he grades extremely slowly and quite toughly.

Mike is a really good teacher and is passionate about history. You are graded off of 3 papers, and a revision/expansion of one of the three papers as the final exam. The papers are 5-8 pages in length and require lots of reading. If you are willing to put in the work, an A is attainable. I got an A and I am not a very good writer, I just worked.

Mike is super chill and funny. No textbooks but rather small books. Essays are tough but if you go to the writing center you'll do fine. VERY slow at getting papers back

Carignan is awesome and I wish everyone got the chance to take his class! He truly cares about his students and loves class discussion. There aren't any tests, instead he has 3 big papers that follow an easy format. Do the small reading and participate in the class discussions. Overall the class is fun, educational, and interesting.

Mr. Carignan is an awesome teacher. He actually makes class really interesting as there is a lot of discussions. No tests which is really nice but he does have 3 essays (6-8 pages) and one rewrite. You have to work on those papers but they are not that bad. The readings for homework are not very long and questions are strait forward! Great class!

Dr. Carignan is one of the best professors I've had at Elon! He's hilarious and makes class so interesting! The readings are short, and there aren't any tests- just three papers that aren't very bad if you pay attention in class. You'll love Carignan, you should take his class!

Dr. Carignan knows a lot about history, and is very interested in it. He is a very tough Honors professor, and a tough critic. He is a slow grader, and appears to be biased against Greek males.

Professor Carignan makes history interesting, thats all there is to say. If you get the chance take Europe since 1500 with him, it is a good class and provides a whole different perspective on history than i had encountered before, not terribly difficult either just do the modest readings he assigns and come to class for discussions.

I'd definitely recommend taking Mike for his European History class. He isn't the easiest teacher but he's very good at his job. I've never actually enjoyed a history class before but I rarely missed any of his classes. Being a good writer will definitely help you out. Participation is also a huge part of your grade, so speak up in class!

Worthless class. Not informative, not helpful. Most days we just talked about how much he hates Bush. Another typical arrogant professor who uses the clasrsroom for his personal soap box and only likes the students who kiss up and agree w/ everything he says.

not a history class at all .. you read books that have nothing to do with anything you talk about it class and write papers on them .. useless. all he cares about it having a good thesis in papers. impossible to get an A and hes not very helpful at all.
