Comment:

Imagine the teddy bear version of Saw, "Wanna play a game?". Makes test questions IMPOSSIBLY difficult. People were literally laughing during the final. Throws in extra credit to thwart a revolution. Super nice guy, hilarious. Poor teacher. Didn't learn anything in class, researched and developed PERSONAL understanding of philosophers on my own.

DONT BUY BOOKS. We talk about relevant topics which tie into philosophers guidelines at some point. Beware of tangents and uncomfortable remarks by him. EASY A! There's an 5? extra credit quiz prior to every 7 ? test and a midterm that's an essay based on a current movie. I didn't learn anything in this class but its gen ed and adds to my GPA

Philosophy isn't for everyone. He had interesting stories to share and tried to get the class to participate, (my class seemed pretty apathetic aside from a few students.) He's into Sci Fi, and for the test (and EC) you relate the text and class teachings to a film. He is absent sometimes because he has a disability, how can people be mad at that?

He's funny, you will most definitely learn something in this class. It may not relate to the actual class very well, but you will learn something interesting about philosophy. He cancels class a lot, I would not recommend taking any morning classes if you hate waking up, he will bail and you will be frustrated.

"Interesting" is an appropriate word for this prof. hard to follow, some irrelevant stories with concepts broadly applied to them. lotsa EC but exams are ubiquitously cryptic and difficult to study for, including paragraph long questions riddled with double negatives. Enjoyableish and an easy A/B but don't bother if you want a solid intro to philo

Lots of extra credit. It is an easy A, but the class is hard to sit through. The text book is "Battlestar Galactica." But you really don't need to read the books to get by.

He's one of those teachers that you think you see only in movies, but he's real. I didnt learn anything about philosophy or religion. All he talks about is ex-girlfriends and cats. Its IMPOSSIBLE to not pass this class with at least a B. So much extra credit is offered, you could bomb every quiz/test and do the extra credit and still get an A.

This teacher is an absolute joke. The only thing i learned in this class was how to beat angry birds. He never teaches from book, tests are made up on the spot. Makes up stories about girlfriends he never had, lives only with cats and makes strange noises. The class was super easy, but a total waste of time. Almost not worth the A i got...almost

a very "interesting" class. tons of extra credit with very few real quizzes. he does know his subject and it can be interesting, but he just says such odd things that the entire class gets very off track. take this class if you want a good filler, but don't actually want to get too into a subject.

oh my god.thats probably the only thing I can say about this teacher.The semester is almost over and i havent learned ONE thing.i have a 300 percent from extra credit alone.all he talks about is his ex girlfriends and cats. dont bother buying the text book. I wont take it as far as saying not to take the class, its such a trip, but dont if you care

Professor was absent about 33% of the time. Extremely easy to get an A, however you do not learn anything. Class tests are based on Battlestar Galactica, not Ethics. Always off on a tangent. Hated every second of the class but I got my A. I learned nothing.

Okay, listen. I took this class because the other comments said that he was never there and I wanted an easy A. I got an easy A but it really started to annoy me when he wasn't there. I mean it's a total waste of gas for me. He always talks about his ex-gf's and really I don't care. Our midterm was on Battle star galactica. I mean really...come on.

If you're just looking for an easy A...go for it. But if you actually want to learn anything, don't take his class. Half the time he doesn't show up (which is REALLY irritating at 8am), and when he does, he spends the majority of the class rambling about his cats & battlestar galactica. This class was honestly the biggest waste of my time.

What to say about Rosenthal...he is definitely a character and I enjoyed being in his class. He makes class very interesting and at times goes very off topic. But he finds ways to tie pop culture into the lectures, and is an easy grader. I got an A in the class easily. Take his class for a good laugh and a good time.

I failed everything and got a B. He was different to say the least, but I wanted to come to class to see what he would do next. He is the kind of character you see in movies and your like "are there really people out there like that?" the answer is yes and his name is mike rosenthal.
