Her class is self-taught, you meet 4 times at the beginning of the year and she assigns the work. At the end of the semester, you report to class twice more. All the work is done out of class, chapter outlines and a pacing guide. They take a long time but are pretty easy to complete, she just checks to see if you completed the minimum word count.

What a sweet heart. Really smart, both in history and getting you ready to teach history. A bit scatter brained but oh well she's hilarious. Assignments are awesome and applicable, can use them in your future teaching career.

Really nice and knowledgeable...but sometimes scater-brained! the class is really easy--you do outlines and then you get 100s for doing them!! theres 10 all together and your barely in class the entire time!! TAKE HER!! shes great

awesome teacher! you only have to go like 3x a month, and there aren't any tests. three assignments all semster, but they're tough. just keep with them, and it's an easy A. highly recommend!

I have never worked as hard in one single class in my entire college career! I have no doubt that all of the material will be useful at some point in a teaching career, but more than one student dropped the class due to the overwhelming work load involved. Dr. Pennel is very concise and focused about what she wants, so be prepared to WORK.

She is probably the professor who has taught me the most about being a teacher since I've been in school. The assignments that we had concentrated more on what we need to do as teachers than history. Although the work was very time consuming, I enjoyed it because I knew I would use it in the future. Take this lady if given the opportunity.

The most caring and helpful professor at the university. She will do anything to help her students, especially hist ed. The work load is really easy but time consuming. If you are hist ed, take her and you will be thankful. Make friends with her because she's the student teacher supervisor.

Her class is not for slackers! Lots of textbook reading for quizzes and exams come straight from class lectures. She is SUCH a sweet lady, but she pushes you. She is very helpful... I would definitely take her again.
