Off topic 95% of the time. His PowerPoints are awful due to his obvious lack of technological knowledge. Reads straight from the text book as if he is unsure of himself. Often talks through break. First assignment was the midterm so you don't know what to expect until halfway through. Attendance is 20% of your grade.

Very educated professor, reasonable and passionate about what he teaches. He's able to make references to the material in every day life. He's all about students doing well, also. There's no way you could fail his class, he just won't let you with all of the opportunities to score points.

Very Nice person but not such a good teaher. HE reads right from the book and then doenst tell u whats on the test so u would have to know everything to do good. Def. dont recommend him especially if you already don't like history.

Comment:

Mr. Schoener was excellent he continually demonstrated the relationship from early civilization to our current society. He recognized the dry content of the material and put forth and extrodinary effort to keep the class focused. Students did find the class overwelming, however, had they given it a chance they most likely would have succeeded.

Nice man, I got an A in his course, but terrible teacher. Read for 2 hours right from the book..I could have stayed home and read. Would not suggest taking him. Extremely boring!!!

This guy was horrible. He sat up in front of the class and read off notes from a peice of paper for 2 and a half hours. And than when someone asks him a question, he goes off on a ridiculous side story about his day job, and tries to connect the two subjects to make it mean something. It doesnt work. Don't take this guy.

Comment:

He's a really nice man, and very understanding. He knows that people have things going on outside of school, and is accomodating. He reads what you need to know straight from the book, so if you read it's very easy to get an A on the tests and the class overall. The class is a bit boring, but then again- it's western civ.

Comment:

He's a great person, but not a great teacher. He's OK at it, but he moves too fast. The entire class is spent highlighting the book(which is how he teaches, all he does is read it)and watch movies. Pay attention to the movies - the quizes he gives you from them help your grade tremendously.
