Nancy Garner is a feminist and she'll make you aware of that on day one! If you're a man, DO NOT take her as a professor. She's a horrible professor, is not reachable at all outside of class, and extremely liberal. This is a class on feminism and liberal ideologies. You will not learn anything taking her history classes.

Comment:

At first I was rubbed the wrong way by how openly she discusses her political views, but I have gained a respect for her and I can agree with her that we all have our own bias, and she acknowledges that. She challenges you to know your facts and make informed decisions. She is very understanding about deadlines and makes sure that you succeed.

Comment:

I think the reviews on here are a little harsh. Sure, she challenges your answers and opinions but that's what made class interesting. I had a health issue and was able to postpone taking mid-term exam which was super helpful and understanding of her. Lots of busy work and exams kinda tough but shes not bad by any means. Would take again.

Comment:

Garner is an infamous prof at WSU. Everyone says "all you'll learn is her political views" which is true. But you do learn a few cool and interesting things. You pretty much have to teach yourself. But if you participate in her madness and pretend like you care you'll get an A for sure. She's tenured so she can teach what and how she wants.

Nancy seems nice and all but shes annoying lol her lectures are super boring, she talks on and on, and she never grades anything on time. Pushes back due dates which can be good but idk, shes just very unorganizied. Also a paper nazi lol your paper has to be completely perfect.

Very rude teacher, seems nice at first but then she finds ways to make her students feel bad. Worst grader that I have ever had. She is a history teacher not a english teacher. You could fail your class by getting low grades for your papers, yet do excellent on her quizzes. She expects graduate, professional type writing in her class or you fail.

Thankfully quizzes were online, she doesn't cover anything in class thats on them. The only reason anyone goes to class is bc she has sign in sheet. She has tenure so class is just her getting up on her soap box. You're always wrong and can't make a good argument to her because as a student you are not "an academic".

Openly rude to anyone who is male or women who defend men. Only reason I got a B instead of an A was that she never responded with feedback on any of my papers despite her assurances that she would for all of us in the class. Plus she takes too long grading anything at all.

I learned nothing about history in this class. She definitely is interested in history, or more so anything involving feminism, and it shows. It doesn't matter if you pay attention or not. Just make sure on the exams you write thoroughly and in a lot of detail regardless of what she says and you should be able to get a decent grade in her class.

Worst teacher I've ever had in my life. If you want a handout and no knowledge gained take her. If you are genuinely interested in women's history try to take someone else. I had her for two classes the same quarter and the lectures were the same in both classes. She just rants about how liberal she is. The. Whole. Time.

Worst professor I have ever had in the history department. She spent the entire talking about Occupy Wall Street instead of teaching Women's History. Beware if you are not ultra-liberal she will tear you down in class, and pretty much dismiss any argument you make. VERY VERY SLOW in grading work so you have no idea how you are doing in the class

Super easy A. Everything is submitted online, but attendance is "mandatory" (I skipped about 7 classes and was never penalized for it). Online weekly quizzes are amazing because you get to take them 2 times and the 1st time, it shows you all the answers. No textbook. She doesn't respond to emails quickly, making it difficult to receive any help.

Class was online. She recorded lectures that were up to 3hrs long at a time and she talked very slowly. Was not puntual. Quizzes, papers, grades were always posted late. The class was supposed to be over friday and she uploaded a quiz at 2 am sunday morning....

She is such a nice woman and she really tries to get students to participate in discussion. There is no required textbook, all of her reading assignments are online for free. Online quizzes are easy and the book review isnt terrible. She really wants to educate people and show them a different perspective. Good Prof!

This is the worst prof I have ever had in my life. She reads over the articles assigned WORD FOR WORD after we have already taken quizzes on them. She goes over the same thing every single class period. She is incredibly boring and her class is seriously insulting to my intelligence. AVOID HER unless you like to waste your money and time!!!
