Nick Taylor is a fantastic teacher/ he should have tenure/ he is incredibly caring about his students. He is able to distill information down into a way that anyone can understand. This is a gift and a testament to his love of what he does.

Nick is very passionate about geology and you can tell he's dedicated a lot of time to knowing the ins and outs, but his teaching style is very disorganized. He also will not post class notes/ppts online despite not requiring attendance, even though we only get tested on that info. Great guy but not the best professor.

Professor Taylor is passionate about what he teaches however he fails to realize that not everyone comprehends and learns with his style of teaching. Regardless of how much I studied I struggled with his quizzes. The entire class was split when it came to grades. It was either you aced it or you failed. Also, copy notes verbatim or you're wrong.

This is kind of an independent study class, and you'll have to figure it out by reading the syllabus on your own; as he doesn't guide or require participation. I loved learning about the ocean, the only thing to help you in this class is uploaded powerpoints. Don't stress too much on the final, I reread the whole text and it was definitely not need

Nick is passionate about his field and knows it inside and out. The good part about that is you'll have a teacher who can answer all your questions. The tough part is that it can be hard to keep up when you're a beginner. His tests are all based on lecture, the textbook is used to back up concepts discussed in class, so study class notes for tests.

Taylor was an alright teacher, I found his lectures engaging. However, he places a huge emphasis on exams and if you don't attend the lecture and take thorough notes then you won't pass as he doesn't believe in posting powerpoints of the lecture. We didn't use the book much in the lecture; you could honestly get by checking out the library copy.

I'm not a science person but needed the credit to fulfill a requirement. Nick is an awesome instructor. Lectures are fun and engaging. Take notes! The textbook isn't used much, more like a study aid. Graded on assignments and tests. Always available to ask questions. He's super funny and incredibly intelligent. He made a "boring" subject fun for me

Technically I think his lecture class is easy if you study and takes notes especially pay attention to the study guide he gives. I recommend going to class. His lecture had no homework. He dropped the lowest test score. His lab is really interesting and I studied a lot for the lab tests. He is a memorable and funny teacher.

Definitely take notes! Professor Taylor tends to simplify terms from the text book (which you don't use much of). Ask questions and he'll help you. Definitely complete the study guides because they can save you from a bad test or two! Show up, take notes, ask questions. Overall Nick is a great professor.

This was the most unusual class. I was brand new to the subject and was quickly lost. He went over it as if were a review class, quickly and as if he expected us to know the material. Most of the younger students did. All there is to earn credit are tests and sometimes not even the material that was in the book. Good luck is all I can say.

I think the class size was 2big. He doesn't seem 2mind multiple students talking at once, so what if you can't hear? I didn't feel like I had a solid grip on the subjects covered. Although he seems like a fun-going person, this class just didn't work 4me. I think he'd be excellent n a small class setting or 4 students who r familiar w the science.

I'm one of those students who usually can get by without studying, and still get As on exams, but I failed every test of his that I didn't study for. And that was an issue, because he doesn't give out assignments. There are five exams, and that is all the opportunity you have to pass. Study study study if you take this class!

Nick's physical geology lab is pretty great.the mineral/rock ID tests were tough but if you study and review the note you'll do well. Nick is an awesome dude who is passionate about geology and really cares about his students. Take his class!

Nick is the man. His class is great and I learned a lot. Took his Physical Geology lecture course and loved it. The grade is based on 5 exams (and he drops the lowest score), and the exams are based 90% on lecture, so if you show up to class, take notes, skim the book, and actually study you will do great in this class. I highly recommend his class

Nick Taylor is a funny, socially and politically aware, salt-of-the-Earth kind of guy. Take notes, ask questions, sit close to the front, and show up to class. You will learn about the complex patterns of, not only Earth, but life itself. Keep in mind that comprehensive "101" type courses do cover a lot. Just hang in there and you'll be fine.
