Comment:
DO NOT TAKE HIM. I barely passed with a C, didn't learn ANYTHING from his class, and just retook with another professor and got an A-. He speaks super soft, his handwriting is completely illegible, he moves really fast, and he is rude when you ask questions in class. His tests are very hard, and he gives no outside assignments/hw for practice.

Dr. Witmer is absolutely amazing. I took him for ACC I and II and throughly enjoyed the class. Class lecture is very boring, no required attendance, and he grades very fairly. His examples in class are harder than the exams, just FYI. Accounting isn't for everyone and its not supposed to be an easy subject for most. Get to know him!

He is a really bad teacher with hard exams (only grades). He is a nice person, but his notes are terrible, literally just words you cannot review or study with. Got a B, still did not like it at all.

I loved this class. Accounting itself is already tedious, and Dr. Witmer's thorough explanations make the class even more tedious. But it's definitely not hard, especially if you're engaged in the lecture and ask if you don't understand something, because when he reiterates a concept he breaks it down even better. Taking him again next semester.

Look this guy is super nice and he loves accounting, but he's an awful teacher and i can't stand his voice--you can barely hear him he's so soft spoken. He takes attendance so that sucks too.

Most boring semester's worth of lectures I've had to sit through. Witmer is a nice guy, but doesnt seem to care about helping you learn. He just does not have the good teaching skills at all. He leaves a lot of material up to the students to learn on our own, and he's not helpful with questions. I took Intermediate 2 with him; very, very hard.

Witmer is my absolute favorite Accounting teacher. He is a classy guy that is very willing to help especially in Intermediate 2. Int. 1 not so much because it is the weed out class. I wish he was teaching Int. 3! He will make you work for the grade, but is a very good teacher and explains stuff well. Take him!

I was optimistic about this class. Witmer has a great sense of humor, and I really enjoy ACC! Intermediate 2 should be hard, but he seems to thrive on the fact that his students suffer. Maybe he is less inspired this semester, but his tests are hard, and his notes are incomplete and unclear. On the upside, helpful in OH, and gives partial credit.

He is awesome! You can tell from the get-go that he truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Intermediate I is a tough course by nature and he definitely challenges you. 4 tests throughout the year with little guidance as to what's on them so you must study all the material. I would take him again and recommend him in a heartbeat!

I surprisingly enjoyed Witmer's class. He's lecturers are dry but he's a good lecturer because he makes sure you understand the material. Gives four tests, two projects, and some online homework to make up final grade. I found it helpful to go to his office hours.

Witmer is great!! His class is hard, but the material is hard. You must be willing to commit a LOT of time to this class but it pays off. Witmer is always willing to help you after class or during his office hours. I definitely would recommend. Classes can seem boring but you just have to learn how to "let your nerd flag fly" as Witmer puts it.

Such a sweet man! Concepts are usually only explained once so it's a good idea to go to class although attendance isn't mandatory. I worked hard for a B- which included going to the lab offered by the university.

Witmer is a great guy and really cares about his students. Intermediate II is not easy, but he explains things well in class. He doesn't give study guides for tests, so a lot of times you are just shooting in the dark. If you do the problems he suggests you will be fine. I recommend studying 20+ hours for his exams.

Witmer is such an awesome person, very helpful and caring about his students. But, when it comes to tests he gives no guidance and will not give any hints towards what will be tested. The only guidance he gives is the chapters that will be on the test. His exams are hard but not totally impossible if you spend 10+ hours studying.

Witmer is a great professor and very knowledgeable about the subject. But... you will basically have to teach yourself the material before the test. He doesn't really answer your question (at least not in class) but if you take good notes in class and study really hard outside of it you'll be okay. Accounting is honestly not for everyone. Good luck

Witmer is a honestly a genius. The material is very difficult so it's hard to teach but go to class and pay attention and actually try to learn and you'll be fine. He is willing to help you if you go see him during office hours. Reading the book helps. The project is very hard but if you don't procrastinate you will be fine. Rough tests. Study up!!

I can't figure out why Witmer has such a high rating on here. I found him terrible. I studied for each test diligently and never did well because there were always problems different and much more difficult than ones we went over in class. He will NOT help you if you ask. I've never struggled with a class like I struggled with Witmers.

Witmer's lectures are difficult to follow. His tests are 90% problems you have to work out. He is a strict grader and will NOT give you any idea what to focus on for exams. He's not clear when answering student questions. He also assigns a project that's nearly impossible to do at this class level, the majority of the class struggled with it.

I liked him as a person, but not so much as a teacher. He does not seem bad at first, but as things get more difficult, his lectures become pretty difficult to follow. I am not good at accounting, but I feel I could be better if it was explained better. Not the worst option, but there is better.
