She is a little whacky but admits to it. Cares for her students. There are quizzes during the semester which are pretty easy. But do not be fooled, the final exam is very difficult.

French is a total sweetheart. I did not like her style of teaching at first, but got used to it and I eventually looked forward to her class and learned a lot. She genuinely cares for her students, she is like everyone's (grand)mother. She was the only professor who managed to switch over to online/distance learning without problems.

Some people just don't like her way of teaching, but I think she can do it only because she actually cares for her students. She does treat students like they are in Elementary School, but it seems to work She does have some ego about only certain sections of the material and spends more times than needed, and less time on all others...

Prof. French is like no one else you will ever have in law school. However, you will learn property inside and out. She is one of the best professors at UB. She wants to see students do well. There should be 100 profs. like her at the Law School.

Amazing teacher, she's an oddball but she loves her students and property law. Held review sessions in her office constantly and really wanted her students to succeed. Test was hard but she curved up. Love her.

Professor French's Law and Religion seminar was incredible! She pushed the class to think and challenged our views in a constructive way. We covered one case each week and she gave weekly papers based that case. She allows rewrites, so essentially everyone can get an "A" if they want. One of the best courses I've taken at UB Law.

I am surprised by the mean comments...no I'm not. But she is a hippie/free spirit. Sure she's a whack, assigns too much reading and papers but she is very passionate about Buddhist Law and is hilarious. I heard her parties are awesome. She really isn't that bad and I do like her despite her zaniness.

French is a great teacher. At the end of the semester, you'll know property in and out. Some of her less-conventional methods are extremely helpful to learning the subject, especially estates. We'll all thank her when it comes time for the bar. She's also personable, and agreed, she throws a great party.

Is she crazy, yes. Will you know the material yes. If you can keep an open mind, the class is a lot of fun. Her goal is to make sure you actually learn the material, unlike most Law professors. As for the ritual humiliation, she does it to everybody, the point is to make you comfortable in front of people. Don't forget you're going to be a lawyer.

A miserable experience. With that being said, you will know property inside and out by the end of the semester. Just be prepared to sing, dance, and be humiliated; by the end of the semester she will have, at least once, intentionally tried to ruin your entire day (and that is if you get on her good side).

She is generally unpleasant, it's true. She doesn't take questions well. She is very defensive. Expect to be humiliated and treated like an idiot. However, she is not the worst professor ever. She does know estates pretty well, and generally, class goes by quickly. I neither loved nor hated her, but will probably avoid future classes with her.

Bat S Crazy. Worst class I took in law school. It was torture. She is either loved or hated; there is no in-between. I will say that she throws a decent party though.

Kind of wacky and uncoordinated - sometimes I wondered how much she planned. Discussions were good half the time and not focused the other half. Too many weekly papers (10 4-5 pagers). Wasted lots of class time watching youtube videos of theoreticians -- thanks, but I could do that on my own time if I was interested. Not bad but also not good.

Awesome Professor!! Very difficult subject matter, but gives very useful handouts. People don't like her class because she makes you break out of your egg shell and get in front of the class which can be difficult for sheltered dorks afraid to speak in front of a group.

OK, My one gift to UB LAw students of the future is to let you know that If you get Prof. French for property (or any other class) you will be in for the most miserable, unpleasant, and demeaning experience you have in your entire first year. Prof. French, as many have noted, treats law students like they are in kingergarden. The worst class ever.

The WORST. Her class literally reminded me of kindergarten. Drawing pictures on the board with crayons, singing jingles, just unprofessional behavior and ridiculous. Cannot teach at all, arrogant, condescending, and rude. By far the most unprofessional and insulting law school classroom experience that exists.

Puts the most effort into making students understand of all the law profs I've had so far. Class tends towards chaotic, but after a week you learn to roll with it and it keeps you awake better than lecture. Caution: sometimes she forgets what she says you do and don't have to know for the final - read everything on the syllabus just to be safe.

She's wonderful. The most approachable teacher at UB Law. She invited us to her house for a party and final review. The class is a 3 ring circus. It will keep your attention, but you must come to class prepared. Spend a good deal of time at the end of the semester reviewing what you've learned and you will do well.
