I wasn't all that into his class. I felt like we spent too much time on not much material. And I found his opinionated lectures somewhat abrasive. But I know he helped a lot of people and was very fair and understanding. He allowed rewrites and let the class democratically decide how we wanted to cover some of the material.

I honestly think he is the best professor in the english department. He is so knowledgeable and wants to teach his students. Cares very much about what his students think and how the class is understanding material. The material is hard but meaningful, loved being part of his class everyday. one big paper and two short ones, and lots of reading

Richard is intelligent and a great person to study with. He is very willing to work at the students pace and slow things up or down if needed. I have taken him for several classes including ENGL 202. Anything you say in his class he appreciates and finds helpful to class discussion.

Feldsteins application of theory to the books and movies we studied made the class very interesting. He challenges you to look at the world and see the ideology within our culture that controls your actions, desires, goals, ect. If you don't know what the term ideology means, you might struggle a bit in the class.

Dr. Feldstein is the best teacher I've ever had in the history of my long, storied, educational life. He not only taught me theory, but taught me about myself. One person wrote he was pretentious. This is completely false. He's one of the least pretentious persons I've ever met. If you are an English major at RIC, you MUST take a class with him.

This is an AMAZING professor. He's wicked intelligent, but he's NEVER condescending. He LOVES when people correct/challenge him in class. 202 is difficult no matter who you take it with, but this guy is makes it bearable and will help you out as much as you need him to! Read the material, go to class, and you will learn so much from this guy!

Professor Feldstein was one of the greatest professor's I have had at RIC. His 202 class takes theory and actually applies it to your life rather than reading on about something you have no interest in. no text required since he has articles for you on Webct. Definitely take this professor, a great guy who knows how to teach. very understanding

The best English professor I have ever had. The topics you cover are the same as any other 202 class, but he makes it interesting and gets you very involved in the topics by bringing up relateable issues and tying them to the topics. Best of all, you don't need to but that monster theory book! If he's teaching a class, take it! You won't regret it!

Richard is by far the most intelligent, helpful, progressive professor I have had the pleasure of having at RIC. I do not agree with anyone who says he is mean, harsh or confusing, i just dont think their minds could grasp his level of theory..that being said i conquer DO NOT LEAVE RIC without taking Prof. Richard Feldstein! it will change you

Possibly one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He was pompous and pretentious in his teaching. The way he talked made it seem like every "deep" insight and theory he shared was the most important thing for the class. As for his insights, they were not so much deep as useless. They had no bearing on the real world. Would not take again.

He might unexpectedly throw you in the deep end, but only because he knows, deep down, that you can swim - and he would never, ever let you drown. He's a brilliant man. If you don't understand, tell him. He will bend over backwards for you and there's nothing in the world he cares about more than helping his students succeed.
