really interesting and cool person, but the class itself isn't very informative. daily quizzes are difficult and he knows it, no midterm, final is really hard too but he ends up curving it and helping out your grade (at least what happened to me) lectures aren't very interesting, not a lot of substantial learning/notes, just discussions

He's a very interesting man, and creates a lively classroom environment filled with discussion and debate. He actively tries to get his students to think deeper. That being said, his classes get boring as the year goes on and the daily quizzes get tedious. Only take him if you care about public policy.

Governor Lamm's class was very interesting however the reading was tedious and he tests on statistics rather than actual issues, rendering the readings themselves fairly useless. Lectures are somewhat interesting although he always manages to bring every topic back to social security. Feel like I learned very little.

Took his Hard Choices class. He has very interesting view points and ideas. Taught me so much. The daily quizzes are hard at first but by the end, it is easy to get 10s. Plus he lets you replace 2 bad scores by writing a paper. It was amazing to have a former governor as a teacher. Overall, super interesting and easy if you put in the effort.

Class time was always fun. There's a lot of debates involved. Reading is tedious and there is a quiz every day on it, so while attendance is not graded, you can't make up the quizzes you miss. Your entire grade is based off of the quizzes and a final so it's a LOT of reading and you can't get behind.

Very nice guy and his lectures arefun and interesting. But taking his Hard Choices class was the worst decision I've made at DU. It's a really enjoyable class, but it's nearly impossible to get a decent grade since it is only based on the final and daily super detailed reading quizzes. Do not take if you aren't an extremely proficient reader.

Governor Lamm obviously has a lot of experience in the subject matter, but, more importantly, he has unique opinions and perspectives on many of the important political debates of our time. He mostly moderates discussion between students, interjecting sometimes. Not much concrete learning, instead the focus is on adopting a problem-solving mindset.

I sometimes loved his lectures and sometimes dreaded it. Quiz during every class which means you HAVE TO READ the materials. if you read you will get an B easy. If you participate in class and write extra credit papers you will get an A. don't ever need to attend his office hrs for A. He is engaging and remembers every1's names.I enjoyed this class

One of the most interesting professors you'll ever have! Incredible speaker, and very insightful without taking a particular side of the political spectrum. Engaging teacher. Be sure to take the Hard Choices class if you can!!

I took his Hard Choices in Public Policy class and it was phenomenal. He's willing to hear both sides of every argument, which made discussion interesting. It was cool to hear his personal experience. There are quizzes on the reading every day, so read! He lets you write an optional paper to make up for your lowest quiz grades. Take this class!

Governor Lamm's class is still my favorite class, I took it first quarter fresman year. Quiz everyday so you need to read the packets. Information was somewhat outdated, but I don't know what it is like now. The discussions were great, Governor Lamm is not partisan, and I am on the opposite side. If you can take this class, take it.

This class is pretty flippin' sweet, but beware of your classmates' rants - public policy discussions are INTENSE. Lamm is a pretty cool guy and passionate professor, but he might not ever learn your name. Don't take it personally.

Professor Lamm was a good teacher, his PowerPoints can be tedious but also are interesting. I don't agree with him on much politically but I felt he was fair and let both sides be heard in class. I enjoyed his insight through his experiences in the political world. Take this class if you can.

Can be tedious...power point lectures with TONS of mistakes AND TYPED IN CAPS LOCK. Quizes are trivial at best. Materials full of stats are out dated. Unbiased in class, but a strong liberal in life. Passionate about teaching public policy. Problem focused, not solution focused.
