I cannot say enough nice things about Professor Halualani! She goes above and beyond with her students and it is clear that she really cares about them. She is one of the kindest souls I have ever encountered and I highly recommend her class!

Comment:

I took her online class during the summer and it consisted of weekly quizzes, journals, and discussion boards. The quizzes are unlimited attempts (keeps the best score) and as long as you fully answer the question for the journals and discussion boards, you get full points. One paper due at the end of the semester. I recommend taking her, easy GE.

DR. H, is THE BEST, she restored my faith in professor's at SJ State, last semester I had awful professors (they were extremely unprofessional with their words with students). If you want to do WELL just do the assigned homework it isn't anything out of the ordinary (reading, give your feedback, write papers). Will work with you, very kind, EASY A

This I believe is how all professors should be. She makes you want to learn, want to read and want to do well. Shell help you every step of the way too. Her class does involve a lot of material and reading but she will give you the right amount of time to finish it. Her class is more rewarding to take than anything.

Dr. Halualani is an amazing professor! I took this course for spring 2020. The discussion posts are engaging and relevant to what's going on in the world today. She also gives helpful feedback and she geniuenly cares about the success of each student. Also, the lectures are interesting.

This is my second class with Rona. She is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had. Rona is caring and kind and she gives legitimate and personal feedback on every single assignment. She is easy to reach out to and makes the class as comfortable as possible for her students. Take her classes any chance you get! She is AWESOME!

I love Rona! This is the second time I have taken her class and I really enjoyed it. Truly one of the best Comm professors. There is a decent amount of work, but its due every two weeks. Plus she always gives extensions for papers.

Rona truly is the best when it comes to online work. She has one discussion, a journal and a quiz every two weeks which is awesome because you're basically getting a free week to relax until the next week hits. She has weekly videos to entertain you and keep you updated! Probably the most caring teacher I've had very understandable.

Rona is an amazing professor! She clearly cares about her craft and is a very approachable, accessible, and resourceful professor. She's also an all-around friendly, respectable, and compassionate women. Her COMM 274R course does have a lot of reading, but there are only a few major assignments to keep up with, & she offers lots of valued feedback.

BEST professor I have ever had. This is my second class with Rona and she cares so much about her students. The workload is not too much, only two essays during the semester , one discussion post, journal entry, and quiz due every two weeks. Quizzes are unlimited chances. Overall the course is very interesting and easy to WANT to engage in.

Such a great teacher that sets students up for success. you can always reach out to her. online class is set up really well. lots of articles and videos for each section, they are relatively short and very interesting. weekly discussion boards and quizzes(unlimited attempts). two papers. accepts late work. do that work and you will pass.

Rona is an amazing comm professor, & is warm, enthusiastic, and, at the risk of using a cliche, genuinely cares about her students. Although she wasn't our designated advisor, Rona made herself available to my M.A. cohort in our last semester of graduate school outside of class, to discuss our career aspirations and offer direction.

Dr. Halualani was a wonderful professor. I took her online course COMM 174 Intercultural Communication and we would have homework due only every 2 weeks which was awesome since I was able to get prioritize other homework from other courses. She's really sweet and responds to emails fast!

Seriously one of the best comm professors to take at SJSU. I've also taken her 176P course online. The reading material is A LOT but they are usually very interesting. Professor Halualani genuinely cares about her students and the material she teaches is IMPORTANT. If possible, take any course you can if she's teaching it.

TONS of reading to do. 5wk course goes by fast, but gives you leniency on deadlines if you need it. Journal assignment, discussion post, and quiz due every week. 1 paper. All easy to do, just try to keep up with the reading and follow her feedback. Prof shows passion for the course and you succeeding in it.

Awesome professor. Took an intense summer course but looked forward to going to class. You will come out of this course feeling like you can join the conversation now. She plays the devil's advocate sometimes, challenges your ideas which is great. Covered all paradigmatic approaches and read a lot!

Great professor!! enjoyed her class very much. She makes the content interesting in her lectures (very passionate about subject) very cool professor. There will be a lot of writing, but the lectures will help you out. Test are long , but if you go to class and read you'll do fine.

Comment:

In Rona's Comm & Culture class we spent most of the time on Marx, Gramsci, etc. which surprised me - I figured there would be more time spent discussing cultures. She does have a unit on Globalization. Personally she is high-energy, good humored, and has an impressive breadth of knowledge. Comments galore on papers - assignments are challenging.
