I took logic, adv logic and phil of art with Prof Emswiler (aka Moody). I loved every class esp phil of art and only wished I could have had more time to take other philosophy classes. I think the philosophy department is one of the best at the school.

The class is very overwhelming at firs, but you'll get the hang of it. Don't be scared by her speech at the beginning. Go to class, ask questions, do ALL the homework. Attend the tutor sessons. She's a great teacher, and her macabre jokes will keep you interested. Probably one of the better professors at UMW.

GO TO CLASS. It's not mandatory, but it will really help you. Trust me, as long as you go, this class is definitely an easy A and will boost your GPA. Emswiler cracks me up, she's amazing and easily one of my favorite profs at UMW. She teaches the material very clearly and uses hilarious examples to keep you entertained

Mrs. Emswiler is a really fun and interesting person. A little quirky and different, but what philosophy professor isn't? Logic is honestly not an easy subject to learn, but she grades fairly and does her best to give extra help to anyone who needs it. I'm hoping to take more of her classes in the future!

loved this class. you dont really need to read the textbook because Emswiler explains the concepts really clearly. Take great notes though, because you use the notes to make your test reviews and write your class discussions. Write down her examples. Tests are easy if you put serious time into your review sheet. Dont use big words, just be clear.

Easiest class ever. I never read, fell asleep in class, and did homework and reviewed the night before the exams and got an A. She explains things so clearly that there's really no point to read cause you just get it. If you want to take logic, take it with her.

I love this class and I love this professor. She is so out there and its great it makes clas really interesting. She is always making jokes and always happy. She made logic come very easily to me and I want to take advanced because of her

Logic is a horrid class. I had it at 8am and while the Emswiler is ok at teaching she gets really worked up over silly things and is always threatening to get us kicked out of school for cheating or something. Just do the homework and go to every class and you should be fine. Just don't rely on her for too much help.

i wasn't looking forward to this class at all but she made logics so much fun and easy. She often comes around and checks hw for the week. Tests are just like the reviews she hands out and assignments are pretty easy too.

She is awesome. A lot of fun in class and very helpful in office hours. If you have to take a math credit and want to do logic, then taking it through her is the best. You will find that the class is very easy, and the tests have little difficult. Definatly a good choice.

I love her. She is fun and very clear. She explains things much better than the book and really wants you to do well (gives you practice tests before the real ones, which are very fair and cover exactly what you learned in class). Logic is my favorite class this semester.

I've taken Sam's logic, adv logic, and phil of art courses, and each one has been completely fulfilling. for the logics - do the homeowrk and you can't go wrong - very fair grader and loves to hang around and work out problems you have trouble with. for art - i've never had a more intellectually-stimulating class at the university! amazing prof!!!!

Great, very reasonable lady. Seems scatterbrained at first, but stick with it -- she really knows her stuff. Super nice if you talk to her one-on-one. Doesn't take students' unintentional slights personally, like skipping class or late papers.
