Doesn't help students at all. Is such a **** and doesn't realize it. Doesn't stick to her own grading rules. Scares many kids away from CSC. She couldn't be doing much worse. Ask a question and expect to be belittled and responded to as if you are a ****ing idiot.

Comment:

Dr. Pollard (now Duvall) teaches an amazing intro to Java class. When I went into the class I knew nothing about computer programming, but when I came out I was well prepared for just about anything that the Computer Science department could throw at me. She quizzes often and uses fun teaching methods, but they all add to and help her teaching.

I found the material really difficult because I'd never done anything with java before. She's good in that she uses different toys and things to try and get people's attention and she makes sure students are staying on top of the work by quizzing often but three quizzes a week (one counts) is kind of obnoxious.

Very nice, sometimes hard to understand, and confusing....gives hard quizzes and doesent really explane them....eh i would get someone else if possible

Doesn't assign work that often, but when she does, it usually takes a while, but fortunately doesn't suck that much. The final project is good, but she gives you only about half the time you'd need to do it and do it well. Very stressful ending, but not a hard class overall.

Shannon is a great teacher. She is really understanding and if you don't get the material she will take time to reteach you. The labs are awesome, and the class is fun.
