This class requires lots of work but it's not necessarily hard. He basically tells you what to do depending on if you want an A, B, or C. Be ready to read a lot and to participate on online posts. Learned a lot. You don't need a book, you just download articles.

Zhang understands the subject-matter very well. The course material and grading criteria is very straight-forward: read 3 books on organized crime during the term, contribute 8 posts per week to the online discussion forum, write 2 five-page papers, and an optional 8-10 pg. paper at semester's end. Do all this satisfactorily and you'll get an A.

VERY clear cut syllabus. See the work needed for the grade you want-NOT HARD TO GET AN A!!! You just have to be lazy to not get one! Quizzes based on 1 book. WEEKLY Discussion boards and 2 essays based on 2 diff books. FINAL PAPER IS OPTIONAL but needed to get an A. But based on VERY interestingeasy non-academic read. Total: 4 easy textsbooks

He expects way too much from his students! He made us choose which grade we wanted, and had to do a certain amount of work for that grade. For a C, we had to participate in discussion forums, & write essays for each of the 4 books. For a B, you had to watch some movies and an urealistic 35+ hours of a show, and write essays on those too. STAY AWAY

Dr. Zhang is very confusing...he knows so much about all he teaches but all he does is make us read books, outline certain chapters, and then read our outlines in class - to me, that is not teaching. His midterm and final was really the only actual work that we had to do and I enjoyed the challenge. He is a hard grader. BLAH. very disappointed.

I don't know why he was rated so low. Yes he is boring. But he is so easy. just do the reading for the small book since most of the in class essays are on that. he sometimes even gives you freebies like give him a good example why you didn't read. He also gives you all the answers to his quizzes before the quiz.

lectures were very unclear, very boring, and he can never explain anything in a way you can understand it! the once a week study sessions is where you do the real learning and where you get the most help! you do have to go to lectures though because they give random quizzes that are important for your grade!

most boring class ever. i didnt know a class could be so dull. one midterm one final but the midterm is 1/2 essay and 1/2 MC (same for final) Almost every lecture has a quiz so go. TAs make you or break you (sellers rocks) but the class is easy so no worries. Three 3 page papers (easy). try to take someone else 1st, zhang is aweful and boring

dr. zheng is a terrible teacher. fortunately it's not him that does the grading. suck up to your TA and i promise you will get an easy A. For the midterm and final you can just cram the night before and do well. Go to the lecture cause he gives pop quizes but they're really easy. this course was interesting and much easier than i expected.

Lectures were very boring but the free points for the quizes really help your grade. I slept through lecture and never read the book and pulled off a B. The mid-term and Final are easy but thats because of the subject matter of the class. not horrible if your stuck with him but dont try to find him.
