Stan was a great professor. His brief assignments really helped us study for the test. It sucks to hear that after winter term of 19 he retired. We deserve teachers like him in the political science department.

Dr. Taylor is amazingly knowledgeable and wise about political science. He is kind and inspirational, cares about his students, and is passionate about activism and making the world a better place. And all you have to do for his classes is read and talk to each other; what you do for homework is entirely up to you.

Awesome prof, kinda looks like Jerry Garcia from The Grateful Dead and has a similar vibe as well. His classroom style is very discussion and participation based, and introduced a new grading style I've never had before called a point pot where there's more than enough assignments you get to be selective with. You can probably get up to 150% E.C.

By far the best instructor I've had at Lane! Very mellow, easygoing, patient, kind. He is very accommodating, he gives awesome feedback, he is a very interesting guy with a lot to learn from but allows you to self-guide. Awesome fading system too! I can't recommend his Environmental Politics class enough!

Amazing professor. Lets the student explore his/her interests in the context of the course. Class is geared to be very participatory. I only wish he was more stern/forceful when discussions lagged due to lack of class participation. Truly cares about the content. One of a kind professor.

He uses a point pot system which allows you to explore areas of interest. For instance, lets say you find US legislation on corporate charters interesting, by all means show up to class and share what you learned. Regardless of what you learned, show up and share. Our natural environment is waiting for and advocate. Is it you?

Very easy point pot grading system. In the beginning of class, you get a list of assigments ranging from speeches, presentations, news articles, etc. that you can do and how many points each is worth. For example maybe 800 possible points are offered, but 500 to get an A. This allows you to pick and choose what assignments interest you. LOVED this.

Stan is an unbelievable blessing to the field of political science, and education as a whole. His approach is refreshingly balanced, and motivating. His extensive knowledge allows him to go where ever his class takes him...topical review, or in depth analysis and discussion. Really enjoyed the whole experience.

It would be a better waste of you time to buy the reading packet than attend this class. His lectures are boring. He showed a lot of movies and had a few guest speakers. He did pick good speakers but overall he did very little teaching and I don't feel I took anything away from his class.

Stan is very monotonous, I will say this. However, Stan definitely knows his stuff. He has dates and times and names and places memorized that you wouldnt even believe. The reading was difficult in the beginning because it was from the 1700s+ but got easier as the term came to an end. Lectures get boring, but overall a great class for those into PS

The class was dynamic and eye-opening and Stan is a passionate, intelligent teacher who uses multiple approaches to communicate the material, including guest speakers. My only regret is that I slacked on so much of the reading, which is valuable and important material in and beyond this class. Amazing experience overall. A must-take.

No textbook. He GIVES you the reading material (quite a bit) for free on 1st/2nd day of class. I only remember 2 HW assignments. 3 essays required . He carefully looks at both sides of a discussion. Mainly discussion and lecture. You may need to take notes sometimes. Awesome guy, great class.

He's passionate about teaching and he puts a lot of work into the course material. I enjoyed how much time he gave to students to discuss the material. I don't think he's there to entertain anyone, but he creates a good learning environment and he thinks before he opens his mouth. Two thumbs up in my book.

After reading other comments not sure if he had a bad term or what. He ran the class very "old-school". 50-min lectures, no powerpoint, no notes, no guest speakers, just him standing in front talking, saw about 4 vids and that was the term. Exams not tough, super short, 25 questions. Maybe PS just isn't my thing.

This is Stan's gift to the world. I had little PS knowledge before. Inspiring: well-organized reading material and brilliant lectures. He showed several fantastic films and invited speakers. Encourages group discussion, critical thinking, &participation outside class. Point-pot grading allows self-motivators to work ahead or slack til the end.
