Comment:

Knutson- you either love him or you hate him. If your goal is to be a successful college graduate you will love him for the discipline he will inevitably instill within you. If your goal is to coast through your (or your family's) expensive education, then I'd advise to bypass Knutson. He will challenge you and expect you to deliver.

This teacher did not care AT ALL. Expects you to know everything from reading a prelab, which isn't right. Sat around doing nothing and seemed bothered if we asked him questions. Seems nice but he just isnt interested in helping. Quizzes were harshly graded even if words were synonymous. Took off stupid points. I dreaded this class. Dont take him.

Dr. K is very old school and professional. Scared me at first but it grew on me. He takes education seriously and it rubbed off on the class too. His lectures make me want to travel. He's a great story teller and it drives home the importance of intercultural comm. Be prepared in his class. Do the reading. If you don't understand then research.

Comment:

Dr. Knutson is one of my favorite teachers at CSUS. He challenges you, you have to put the work in. But, if you go to class and do the reading there is no reason not to get a good grade in his class. He doesn't take any BS (in my opinion is good). His lectures are always interesting and if you go to his office hours he is always very helpful.

Professor Knutson is a great teacher, his classes are always interesting b/c he is quite humorous and he likes to make his students laugh. The textbook is CRUCIAL, he gives 3 tests & 1 research paper. All 4 are incredibly hard if you do not study, he gives the paper the first day of class & gives the entire semester to do it, so DO IT!

Knutson is really not that bad. If you're interested in the subject, read the chapters and you'll do fine on the test (no study guide, BTW). He also curves them. As for the essay, if you're a skilled writer you have nothing to worry about. He stresses APA more than content. Coming from a student who played robot unicorn attack the entire semester.

If you're looking for an easy class and to learn from the professor, don't take this class. He has a pretty good sense of humor but don't let that fool you. Really tough grader and harsh on students. Don't even bother coming in if you're going to be late. Assigns groups chapters of the text and had us teach each other. Won't take him again

An undeniable passion for teaching and seems like an awesome person. Having said that, this was one of the most difficult classes in my college career. Your grade is based on 3 exams and 1 paper ONLY. The exams are only possible to pass if you memorize the entire book. Lecture is mandatory but the info is not on the test. TURN THE PAPER IN EARLY!!!

Knuston is interesting. He is older and can be grouchy, but he means well. 3 exams 1 paper Exams are very difficult but he curves them by about 10%. DO THE RESEARCH PAPER EARLY! He reads it and gives you an idea of what you'll get on it. This will make or break your grade if you were borderline like me. I'm a dedicated Coms major and still got a C.

funny professor, liked him at first and grew to despise him. Everything is black and white with him, while he himself is not very ethical. Lectures were useless and I never even picked up the book. Turn in your essay early. He will harp on you about it but its true, do it. Whole class was like a review of my AA in Coms.

I took him for Interpersonal Communication. He is easily the worst teacher I've ever had. He didn't even bother teaching. He assigned the class the chapters of the book and had us teach ourselves. When we tried to argue with him, he responded with, "I'm older, so i'm right!" All he did was ridicule the students and tell us why we were wrong.

Nice Guy, but his lectures are no help for the exams. No outside help for exams and almost entirely on the textbook. The average grade in the class on the first 2 exams was under 70%. that should tell you how bad his lectures are.

This guy was something else. Very arrogant and he'd go on tirades during class when a student was late or had to get up to use the restroom. He'd also constantly remind you that he was a Rhodes Scholar. If you saw him during his office hours, he was one of the nicest guys though lol. Good luck if you take his class.

Tells his students to not be ignorant, but is himself. Belittles students. Treats his class as if it is the most important thing in the world, which is great until he starts calling out anyone who is either late or leaves in the middle of class to take a call/emergency etc. Also, does not care about your personal life.

Although he expects a lot, he is a great prof. I took him for coms 100A, coms116, and coms 119 all in the same semester. He is consistent with his expectations and is helpful if you seek help. Wants you to learn. Can tell if you're a slacker. Very respectable. Easy class if you pay attention and turn in the papers early so you can get feedback!

In retrospect he is good decent prof and really just wants you to learn the right way. But this class is pretty much a nervous break down in course. No study guides, final is cummulative, the average on a test was 68% with a 10% curve. TURN THE TERM PAPER IN EARLY!!! I can't stress that enough. It will make or break your grade.

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! HE DOESNT TELL YOU THAT HE GRADES BASED ON ATTENDANCE BUT HE DOES SO IF YOU DON'T SHOW UP YOU WILL GET A LOWER GRADE. HE DID NOT TEACH ANY NEW MATERIAL. EVERYTHING WE LEARNED I ALREADY LEARNED IN A BASIC SPEECH CLASS. HE MAKES UNWANTED SEXUAL JOKES AND REMARKS WHICH IS REALLY DISGUSTING BECAUSE HE IS REALLY OLD...LIKE 80
