Very motivated to help you learn. We read A LOT, did a few essays and at the end of the course we had to do individual presentations in from of the class, they were up to about 5 min long. she gives excellent feedback on all your work but I would advise you to show up to every class and to read what has been assigned. She likes class participation

I enjoyed her class, put topics were about real life events so it kept me interested. She is extremely knowledgeable. We had to read A LOT and wrote quite a few essays. At the end of the course we everyone had to do a 5 min presentation (if front of the whole class which is a no from me lol) however, I love English and I did well in her class

Comment:

Very good academic knowledge on the subject. Just felt that Ms. Zhang was extremely tough on grades and assignments for a subject which does add anything to my GPA. Highest grade in my class was C+ My class had assignments every week and was pretty time consuming. Do not take her class if you have core subjects along to focus on.

I'm not usually a fan of English but I looked forward to her lectures and felt like the class was very welcoming. Yaying was by far my favorite teacher of the semester as she was understanding and had very few assignments all of which were easy to do. She is heavy in class discussion and participation is a must but overall a good professor.

A caring, motivated professor with profound understanding. She's willing to share her thoughts, and, too, listen to her students' comments to improve her lectures. Pay attention to what she says, and you won't need any textbook.

Her lectures are well planned and the material is relative to the complexity of the course. She is a very fair marker. My tip is take notes during lectures, especially if she writes something on the board and incorporate those notes into your papers!

Yaying is a great teacher, thoughtful and takes a lot of time to make sure she gives you helpful feedback. Feel bad for the butthurt FOB on here who can't even master grammar, pretty obvious it's the same person leaving the negative feedback as all of your entries are nonsensical and difficult to understand. Bias towards or against? Lulz.

Yaying really helped me improve my writing and to become a more confident writer. She makes you think in class, which is nice. Make sure to participate, since that's part of your grade. Topics covered are interesting. She gives good feedback on papers. 1 oral presentation, the rest is papers.

Was not sure how this class would go as I was terrible in English at High School (specifically grammar). Yaying focuses more on your ideas and thoughts before she looks at your grammar. You do have to try extremely hard in this class so do not think this will be an easy A. One of my favourite teachers by far.

You'll find her course useful if you are a serious student and want to get ahead. All the class material and assignments are related, and they helped me in my other courses. Yaying is a professional and responsible teacher.

Yaying was a great teacher. Very clear and explains everything you need to do good on a paper. She also goes over the articles you read for the class so if you pay attention and take notes the class is relatively easy.

On multiple occasions called out a student with a learning disability after she was informed about him. Puts us into groups every class. reading material is super dry and so is the class lectures.

Class time is to get you prepared for the writing assignments, she is pretty clear on the learning outcomes, and her teaching style is good, however class discussions could've gone better.
