I love Dr. Scheiber! I've had him for two classes now. He's one of the best profs I've had. He has a very holistic reading list. His lectures are great and his classes are good balance between him teaching and having group discussions. The assignments feel like a lot at first, but I got used to them and ended up enjoying the way he assigns homework

Professor Scheiber is a nice man who cares about his students. He isn't a particularly hard professor, but his grading is a little bit harsher than you would expect from such an easy going guy, but nothing crazy. Classes are lecture and discussion based, and while you can get away without reading for class, you'll regret it come test time.

The classes can get repetitive but it's pretty easy. You typically do some reading before class, get into groups in class, and discuss the stories or poems. There are two papers in which he gives you lots of time to work on and feedback through him and peers. He doesn't lecture too much and as long as you skim over the assigned reading, it's ok.

Really great guy and the lecture discussions were amazingly engaging... but grading is a little unclear. It seems like he never gave full credit and wouldn't give feedback on why. That said, as long as you can stay on top of the readings and are ready to participate, you'll enjoy this class and this prof!

Great professor!! I enjoyed this class very much. Not too much work, about a paper a week but was easy to accomplish. You can tell he loves teaching and really cares about his student. Would definitely take this class again.

Great professor and great guy all around. This class was essentially a read-and-discuss structure, so we were easily reading 100+ pages a week. He's very flexible and understanding, and has great lectures/discussions in class. Super nice and he definitely made me a better writer and critical reader.

Dr Scheiber is a great professor! Super nice and funny. There's 8 short papers and 2 bigger papers. No tests which is great. The papers are not that hard and he gives good feedback to improve the writing. There are some pop quizzes. Lots of group discussion during class. I would take another class by him for sure!

Best English teacher I've ever had. He is really good at what he does and is always there for his students. You have one paper a week roughly but they're very easy and he is a very easy grader. I was in his "playing and writing the blues" class and I would definitely take it again, don't miss the opportunity.

He's a goof and everyone in my class loved him. 8 "microthemes" all year that take at most 30 minutes and two formal essays that you get good grades on because he reviews all of it, gives you comments, and will grade it after making it impossible to get a bad grade. No tests. He made poetry interesting and reading was very minimal. I loved him.

No tests, just 4 papers. He is very understanding if you need an extension, and he actually doesn't believe in grades. He is awesome and wants to help you succeed. Has a sense of humor and really interesting lectures. I would take him again.

Scheiber is a funny man, and a great professor. Class is mostly group discussion about reading assignments and homework. One paper every week, and 2 portfolios. He makes the whole class participate, and class is never boring. I would definitely take him again!

Studied college English for six+ years and find Dr. Scheiber a more engaging and knowledgeable professor than most others. Not to disparage any others. I've taken three of his classes. He's very friendly. Is he also challenging? Yes. Stingy with an A? Yes. But it's not "impossible" to get one. Anyway, if he was easy, why would you pay him?

As a graduate student, Dr. Scheiber is one of the best profs I've ever hard. Very insightful, interesting, clear, and helpful. He provides a lot of feedback, and though his classes are hard, you really learn a lot. He's an expert in his area and up to date. Highly recommend his class!

This prof is okay, nothing really great but I've had worse. He teaches you a lot and you will see your writing improve. He tries to make class interesting but sometimes it gets a little boring. You have to read the material because he calls on you randomly. It is impossible to get an A.

He is a good prof. Very helpful. He worries constantly that he is boring, which he may be at times, but it is due to the material and not him. Very nice and helpful and he grades so that you can do as well as possible in his class.
