By far the rudest professor I've ever had. His emails are so condescending. Only a midterm and final that he takes no time to explain and expects you to just read his mind on what he wants. His lectures are scattered and he goes off on a lot of strange tangents, and then he expects you to answer difficult questions on finals with no help. AVOID!!!

Professor Hayes is awesome. His class is lecture based, despite the fact that he goes of topic a ton I actually learned a lot in his class. He is super funny and non Pc. In terms of work he gives extra credit for participating in class which goes towards to grades the midterm(30%) and final(70%). Both are super easy and have extra credit on them.

Very disorganized class. He gets off topic very easily and just rambles instead of actually lecturing. Midterm and final are both at-home written assignments but very long and somewhat difficult. His grading is not very clear and confusing most of the time. If you participate in class, he'll probably like you

As a senior, genuinely the worst professor I have EVER had. The class itself is easy enough and I made a fine enough grade, but I learned nothing from the course. Will "lecture" aka ramble on and on, with no point, and asks questions that he does not want answers to. Does not stick to the syllabus nor does he grade/calculate final grades properly.

I am genuinely confused by the negative feedback on Prof Hayes. He's a wonderful professor. People say his lectures jump around a lot because he plays music and goes on tangents that are relevant if u pay attention. Take notes on all. Good humored, likes to dance a bit, and is very knowledgeable on media law which is why he wrote a book. Easy A.

Abysmal explanations, unnecessarily harsh grader, tends towards racism and misogyny to "prove" his POV, generally hard to follow

Teaches by a textbook he wrote himself, calls on people and doesn't even let them respond properly, poor lectures, hard to follow, just do the readings and you will be fine. Midterm, 3/4 exam and a final which are take home (only bright side of the class). Write the exam responses in a way that mimic what he would say and your guaranteed an A.

Incredibly boring lectures as well as unclear and hard to follow. Unclear test expectations followed by an abysmal grade (he's a harsh grader). Better get cozy with the textbook because it's the only clear teacher you'll have, even though he wrote the thing.

Easy class, does not take attendance. However, very biased on many topics such as the topic of if rate my professor is ethical. If you read, you will do well.

All of the exams are take-home, however they are extremely lengthy. If you want an A, do not skimp on any details and specifics when doing the take-home exams. The professor is very friendly, cracks a lot of jokes, and tries to make the material interesting. Lectures tend to jump around a bit and be a little unclear and confusing.

Dr. Hayes has a fair class. Major tests/assignments are done at home. You are free to use your resources. You have 24hrs to complete them. They can be lengthy, however daily course work is quite minimal. His classes are lecture based with small bits of discussion. He has a goofy sense of humor, but is not an "entertainer" of a professor. Neat class

Worst teacher ever. The topics were interesting but he was unable to explain exactly what he wanted on assignments and was a harsh grader. Mandatory class participation and he can't hear anything. Worst experience thus far at Fordham. Also very rude in emails and not helpful. Any email he sent out made it sound like the class was stupid. AVOID.

Least favorite professor at Fordham, even though the topic of the class is great. He bored everyone in my class to tears and eventually stopped letting students leave to use the bathroom. He wrote his own textbook, which is full of spelling and grammatical errors, and the exams rarely relate to what is discussed in class. He is also very forgetful.

specific to Mag. Article Writing: class is not very useful, he kinda rambles, but he gives you a lot of time off from class sessions to write articles and is always available to meet and further clarify assignments. Will also let you revise for better grades. Funny an eccentric man. 4 small very easy assignments and two 1000-2000 word articles.

He kind of rambles in class but he is funny so it's entertaining. The only grades are a take home midterm and take home final... don't be fooled though, they're very time consuming. It's also hard to know exactly what he's looking for so you wont nec. do well. Attendance isn't mandatory once he gives you the final topics though which was great!

Intro to Journalism -- disorganized, unclear, uninformative, literally deaf, opinionated, offensive. Expects more out of students than he puts into his teaching. Will get a B+/A in his class, but class is near torture. Ruins the Journalism concentration.
