Comment:

Professor Lawrance cares about all of his students and is such a joy & light in class each day. His smile and laughter are contagious! There are quizzes each class, but these contribute to your grade and are easy points. As long as you went to class and did the case studies, it was easy from there on out!

I really like Dr. Lawrance. His lectures sometimes get side tracked, but this is usually only when no one has questions (or at least don't raise their hands to indicate they do). He makes sure you know what will be on the exam. He is so kind and helpful. You can always email him and expect a response. He is also easy to work with if you miss a clas

Comment:

Dr. Lawrence is a decent professor but is often extremely forgetful. Multiple assignments turned in and never graded. Never actually lectures himself, instead he has students present case studies for 10 minutes a piece. There are quizzes every day of class. The quizzes and exams are nothing like his lectures so be prepared to read books/materials.

His way of teaching was odd and by the time we adjusted to his style of tests, quizzes, and lectures, his section was nearly over (there were 3 sections of bio teachers in one semester). There were group quizzes and HW for every class and even though they were only 5 points each, he expected A LOT of work for the HW. Fri HW is due the following Sat

Lawrence really is showing his age with his teaching style now. He rarely teaches in class and leaves it up to the class to present on the topics in the book they read. Luckily his class is fairly easy because of how his tests are done, which are mostly just vocab and only 4 extended response questions. He is a very sweet man and I do like him

Students are expected to read the entirety of every chapter and teach themselves. In class, each group is assigned a question that they must answer and then teach to the class. He does no actual teaching. Although, if you approach him he will answer questions that you have. While it is a very student taught class, it is not overly difficult.

He never actually lectures anything. He expects you to ready the textbook and teach yourself. There is a quiz for every class, and when he messes things up be prepared to have a fight on your hands because he's so convinced he's right, and if you prove him wrong then suddenly things are all about how self-centered you are.

He never lectures and every class we do the same, group work and presentations followed by a quiz on the chapter. Homework is to review the chapter and do vocab/learning outcomes, which everyone stopped doing by week 2. He's a great guy, will answer your questions but don't expect a lecture or anything. Good luck, you'll need it.

When I took this course he didn't lecture or answer questions. You read the chapter and teach it to yourself and he gives you a quiz. He is a tough grader and doesn't clearly outline what he wants and often changes it as it goes. This is the worst and most frustrating class I've ever taken.

Doesnt lecture at all. We read three chapters a week, have to memorize all vocab and complete learning outcomes, and we are then told to get into groups and discuss. Daily quizzes in the class and difficult exams when there is no lecturing happening. Would not take this again, very frustrating!

Lawrance is a very nice guy, but a terrible professor. He doesnt teach us anything. Everyday we do the same and have the same exact homework over another chapter: do the vocab, learning outcomes, and questions at the end. Then, he expects us to take a test over five chapters of this crap. FML

Comment:

Possibly one of the hardest classes I have ever had in my life. Biology was my cup of tea until I had his class. He's incredibly hard as a teacher but great as a person. His tests don't come from neither the book or the notes and the tests are usually more in depth then from the notes and book.

Dr. Lawrance reads straight off the powerpoints and paces as he reads which can be distracting. He makes jokes that aren't at all funny. That said, his class is REALLY easy just not interesting. Study powerpoint notes and ICA worksheets for tests.

Make sure you have something to entertain yourself, because his lectures are really boring. Exam questions come right from the quizzes for the most part. Just keep everything organized and you'll be fine.

The guy is hilarious. He sang Gilligan's Island for no reason during class one day. He makes the oddest things fun, like mapping DNA sequences and recombinating E. coli. Awesome.
