Comment:

Homant is a very interesting man. He may be bordering on senility, but then so may I. I had him for deviant behavior and he is truly among the elite experts in the field. He wrote the textbook so no materials to buy. He always called us his deviants. Very lecture heavy, not much discussion was a drawback. Altogether, I thought the class was great.

Comment:

His class was one of my favorites to take because of not only what was engaging subject matter, but a reliance on lectures as opposed to rote memorization from the textbook. While he can get drawn off-topic, it is often to display his immense knowledge of a diverse subject matter.

Dr Homant is a hard professor but if you pay attention and communicate with him you will pass his classes with flying colors. He is very knowledgeable and have a lot of work experience.

This class is HORRIBLE. If you like to sit passively, collecting deposits of information from the teachers' narration then this is the class for you! He lectures the entire time on a topic that is very conversational.... sociology. Participating in class can be difficult because he dominates the conversation and everything is a yes or no answer.

Very hard to take good notes because he doesnt use a powerpoint pres. or the board. He gives out handouts, but they are typed up in his language and are somewhat confusing. Lectures got so off-topic that it confused the whole class.

I would definitely recommend Prof. Homant. Many people had issues doing well but I always got A grades. If you pay attention and take notes in class and use his study guides you will do great! His study guides are exactly like his tests! The class is all tests, no homework. Also he says that an A on the final gives you an A in the class!

I took forensic victimology and he is a good professor. However does lecture the whole class and goes on tangents. Is a little boring at times. For all the quizzes he gives you a study guide of exactly the quiz, quizzes are a little long like 70 questions or so, so do the study guide it helps; no papers or hw all tests!

Dr. Homant is a good man. You will learn from him if you are ready to learn and you are going to have to work at. You must read the text, attend class to take notes and know your vocab. "When the student is ready to learn, the teacher will appear." That's Dr. Homant.

A great guy! Very straightforward, attendence is a must in his classes, and so is paying attention. Only dedicated students should take him. His classes are extremely rewarding and once you get used to his style, you will learn SO MUCH.

This class was SO easy! All you have to do it some to class, take notes, and then review the bold words in the book and the end of chapter review before the test. If you don't do well in this class, you should not be at Detroit Mercy as this institution will be way too hard for you!!!
