Dr. Pomory is a great professor. MIZ is a very tough class and requires a lot of time there is no doubting that, but he is there to help you. He wants you to do well as long as you want to. He will give you tips on learning the material. He does test heavy BUT that is good because of the amount of information.

Comment:

Hardest class i took my first semester. Most people complained and thought it was too hard but really as long as you actually study everyday and work hard you'll do fine. Pomoroy's not very personal but does a great job explaining everything to everyone. Great guy to teach zoology!

Comment:

Pretty hard... but tests are straight from his notes. Just remember everything he says. Doesn't expect you to expand on what he teaches you, but if you have a question, he can definitely answer it. Very smart. Doesn't scale tests. Doesn't assign homework. 5 tests and 3 or 4 labs are all the grades you will have in the class. Study up!!

This class is VERY challenging, as it's a LOT of information. Plan on dedicating about 15 to 20 hours a week on this class and the lab. Pomory is a nice guy and pretty cute in his own way. He is very intelligent without being snarky. I recommend him.

Fantastic class, very informative, very straightforward teacher. He doesn't expect you to read the book for tests, as the questions come from notes, but mentions it would be helpful. He answers every question asked and writes everything he's lecturing on the board to make it easy for copying. Lots of info, so be ready to dedicate a lot of time.

NO. If you like writing tons of notes, failing tests, and being extremely bored, then choose Zoo1010 with Pomory. Seems like an okay guy, but his "motivational lecture" comes off as snarky and incomprehensibly uppity. If you are someone who needs to study hard to do well in science courses, and you have to take pomory, prepare to set aside TIME!

He has a real passion for what he teaches. The difficulty comes from the amount of information he teaches, not his teaching style. He really knows what he's talking about, likes to make jokes, and is a fun professor. He teaches from his notes and his own experiences, not the book, so don't bother wasting money on it. I'd definitely recommend him.

One of my favorite professors at UWF. The tests are straightforward and exactly from the notes, you just have to actually study more than the night before. It is a lot of information but it's easy stuff, all memorization. Do not buy the book! He makes class enjoyable, hes funny and always willing to explain things again. I definitly recommend him!

He gives interesting and fun lectures but his attitude toward his students' success is pitiful. He gave us a soliloquy after our first test about how none of the pre-med students would ever get accepted into med school. We don't need statistics, we need our teachers to believe in us instead of push us over the cliff.

Very intelligent teacher. Lectures are simplified and easy to understand. Tests come STRAIGHT FROM HIS NOTES. Do NOT buy the book. I made an A in the class but had to take notes everyday and study about a week before the test just because there is a bunch of stuff to memorize.

Dr. Pomory is an awesome teacher. Even though all he did was lecture, he kept it interesting for the full 50 mins. I really learned a lot in this class and would suggest him to any one who has to take zoology. The tests are straight from the notes, I never picked up my book once...so don't even bother buying one. You HAVE to study, though.

However you can't pass the class by cramming for the test the night before. You have to study off and on for about a week for all the memorization sink in. Great prof

I've had Pomory for 2 classes (General Zoo & Marine Invert Zoo) and I enjoyed both. His teaching style is very constant- all exams are straight from his notes, so attending class and taking good notes is imperative to doing well in any of his classes. Don't be scared to talk to him because he is a very intelligent person!

Dr. Pomory is an amazing teacher! He explains things very well and is always willing to help. His tests are REALLY hard however! You definately can not study the night before! The tests do come strait from the notes though so you have all of the material...dont wast your money on the book! I made a B but studied my ass off! overall good class
