Professor Peterson is by far one of the best professors at DePauw. She is extremely passionate about her courses. I wish people would actually take her class and put effort into it before deciding she's too difficult. I'm white, and there hasn't been a time in the classroom where I've felt attacked. She uses logic, not emotion. Great Professor!

I know people say that she is really tough and although this is partially true, her class is definitely doable and enjoyable. She does give pop quizzes BUT they are all open note. Honestly as long as you stay on top of the readings, go to class, participate enough and TAKE NOTES ON THE READINGS AND IN CLASS you should be fine!

I found Professor Peterson's class to be really informative. The required readings while at times dry gave new insight to how the American political system works in context of minorities. She is a tough professor no doubt-she expects you to come to class having done all the reading and she expects everyone to participate in class.

DO NOT TAKE. Does not like wealthy white males (majority of DePauw males). Pulls the black card out on everything. If you oppose her, she will shoot you down, and of course, pull out the black card once again. Not worth it. Do not know how DePauw has let her stay, absolutely horrible.

Not an amazing professor but not as bad as some of the other reviews. She is very opinionated and sticks to them. If you're white upper middle class she will make you feel bad about how good you're parents have done. The class itself is pretty straightforward. Do the readings, participate in class, don't challenge her and you'll be fine.

I love politics especially American politics and her material was quite interesting. However, I dominated class discussions, projects and from my opinion knew all test material. But I ended the class with an 89.4. I have no evidence to agree that she favors certain kinds of people but if you are looking for a semi cool professor its not her.

she was overly opinionated, unhelpful, and condescending at times. difficult to prepare for test, especially missing classes. we also did not learn much about the course topic. I think her dislike of white male students may be exaggerated on here and i was one of three in the class, but i do think she favors African Americans and women heavily.

I am a poli sci major and by far the worst teacher ive had. If you dont have her opinion on every topic then drop the course. Ive gotten A's in 300 level poli sci classes and got a C+ here after working alot. White + Male = drop the class

I had a totally different experience with Professor Peterson. She was the best professor that I have had a DePauw so far. I am glad that she opened my eyes to a new understanding ofpolitical science. Manyothers complained cuz they got a C. Im majoring in bio but Im gonna take her again when i get chance.

Lectures usually clear, but class discussions were awkward - she was often looking for one specific answer that we'd never get. Grading system opaque, only got feedback on one essay. Fair amount of reading. For what it's worth, I'm a white male and got an A- in the class.

Worst professor I've ever had here at DePauw. Readings were long and then never directly discussed in class. Discussions were unbelievably wayward. Harsh grader, especially after giving few guidelines for projects. Slow to return assignments, unorgainzed syllabus, uninteresting classes, just all around terrible. Never taking her classes again.

Horrible- Gave the best final presentation a C- because they didn't have data charts which weren't even a requirement. Loves giving out C's. 76.95 and she wouldn't even round it up to a 77 for a C+. Extremely bias, kiss your GPA goodbye if you are a white male

TERRIBLE! i was looking forward to my polysci class with the head of dept. and found out she was TERRIBLE! seems like she absolutely hates her job, does not put any effort into teaching. discussions were painfully awful as she did not lead them well or tell us what we were talking about. gave me and half of the class 79.45's just to give us a C+.
