Comment:
DeWeese is laid back and I guess you could say his class is easy but really I feel like I have learned SO MUCH without feeling overwhelmed if that makes any sense. His lectures are entertaining and informative. You just get the sense that he enjoys what he does. If I could take every class from him, I would.

Dan is hilarious and a great teacher. I learned a lot from his classes, and enjoyed his lectures and the reading material. He will help people learn to write well, self-edit, and think critically.

Excellent teacher who makes students feel comfortable and welcome. Intro to Rhetoric and Composition could be boring but it wasn't with Dan. Thoughtful and really a good example for students who want to go into the teaching field. The only negative was that there could have been more reading, or that the class was a little too easy.

I enjoyed all of the lectures. He wasn't afraid to dive into the core nature of the material being presented, and although it seemed as if he was non-sequitur at times, he always found a way to tie everything into the art (if you will) of rhetoric or composition theory. Funny dude, good classroom energy, very informative/ wide breadth of material.

Comment:
Writing About Film. I learned little about either. The first three weeks were solid, with lectures on the technical elements of film. After that we transitioned into ideological criticism and it became very vague. The writing produced was terrible and the workshops lacked a rubric and we were discouraged from actually making any real criticisms.

Lectures are great, with lots of student interaction. His style is casual but instructive, with a dash of humor. Assignments are challenging, but not difficult. I have learned and grown in the class. Looked forward to each and every class. If I'm luck, I will get to take another class taught by him.

One of my favorite classes at PSU. Deweese is very funny and HELPFUL. Really great insights to how to teach. If you want to be a teacher, take this class. Pretty easy class to pass, research what you want to, do the readings, and participate.

Dan Deweese is hands down one of the best professors I've had at PSU. Funny, intelligent, and never condescending, he goes out of his way for students and facilitates class discussions to where they're useful, engaging, and fun. However, don't expect him to hold your hand. Take Deweese.

Dan is one of the most engaging professors I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I've taken him for ENG and WR classes and he is passionate about the work, down-to-earth, and utterly hilarious in his delivery of material. Not only that, but he is consistently open and available in class, in his office, and even after hours. Wonderful guy!

I got an account on this site so I could give this rating. Dan Deweese is a phenomenal teacher--one of my greatest inspirations. He's brilliant, yet hilarious, and he cares more than he pretends to. I have taken a couple classes (WR 312, ENG 331) and hope to take more. Though he will probably never know it, he has changed my life :-)

Dans generally a good guy. He does put time into what goes on in class each day. I feel like I learned something in the class, however I felt like I could've learned a lot more. It doesn't always feel like his heart is in it.

Excellent, engaging professor. Knows his subject, knows how to teach it, and knows how to keep the class engaged while he's at it. It's difficult not to learn something in his classes.
