Fairly easy class overall. Make sure to study old exams that he provides you with, but old final exams do not include answers so you have to find them on your own. If you truly want to have a good understanding of ochem, I don't recommend this class, but if you want an easy A, go for it!

Dr. Gust is an overall good teacher. In order to succeed in Advanced OChem I, it is imperative to attend every lecture. He explains concepts very well and is very approachable in regards to questions.

His tests are multiple choice and fairly easy. They look just like old tests. He took attendance once, but I'm not sure if that affected your grade. Also, there was a very good grade curve! The class was fairly boring; however, the textbook was useful. Do the homework, maybe come to class if you like his lecture style, but definitely read the book.

Pretty boring class, but as long as you show up to class, take notes, and study the practice exams, you will do fine. He curves, which doesn't hurt either.

Nice guy. Horrible teacher. Goes way to fast. Covering 1 chapter per class whereas this class at other campuses covers 1 chapter/week. O chem is a subject that needs a professor to go into detail. No detail here. Very difficult to learn ANYTHING from going to class. Advise: find a different prof if you want to learn in CMH 231.

Short and sweet O-chem. Dont need the book, no homework, CPS attendance. Tests were very similar if not exact as the previous years (questions from multiple years exams) Just study the presvious exams he posts. Multiple choice exams. Curve at the end even tho the class was doing fine.

Study the previous tests. I found that if you look at tests two years before they are almost identical. But review all of them and know the general concept behind them and you will do fine. Theres a curve at the end so don't be to worried if you don't do as good as you wanted on a test or two.

Best Chem teacher I have ever had! He dumbed things down a lot, perfect for non-chem majors! Couldnt ask for more, follows the book, explains things several ways, gives a little test review, post previous test, CPS for attendance. I wish more teachers were like this. Very knowledgeable, tells interesting tid bits, and how chem applies to real life

This class was hard for me to understand - the material is difficult and there is a lot of memorization to be done about mechanisms and the like. However, Dr. Gust makes it easier on the students by following the book, and his tests are based directly off the practice and previous semester exams. DO THE HOMEWORK problems, and you'll be fine.

Great Professor. The tests come mostly from the book or previous exams. Just read the material and do some example problems and the tests should be fairly easy. Of course most people still seem to fail. The fact he follows the book is nice; it makes things a lot easier on the student, considering it̢۪s already difficult material.

I went to lecture on the first day of class and left confused on material I knew solidly last semester. O-Chem is not easy and he only makes it more confusing. I stopped going to lecture because material I no longer understood the material after he finished explaining it. :/

He explained the backround of chemistry in three days better than my intro. to chem. teacher did all semester. Plus, he has a lot of little stories that he tells, and it keeps the class interesting.

Ochem is so hard and he definitely doesn't help that. Lectures are very boring and his tests are very hard. Luckily he curves a lot. Its the only way you can pass

Easy in class but hard on tests. He also follows the book which, in my oppinion, isn't good for a Chem. Professor
