Wonderful professor, but even more than that, he's a wonderful human being. He and his wife are pillars of not only the college, but the community at large. I would highly recommend him as a professor both for the chance to learn the subject matter and also to get to know him. Go to office hours. Nobody knows Houghton College like Dr. Gaerte!

Dr. Gaerte is the best! Not only has he been a great professor in many classes, but an even greater advisor! He taught my favorite class in college as well...Interpersonal Comm. He's a nice person and loves to bake cinnamon buns for his 8am classes! We even had the final at his house, where we watched a movie! I could go on for hours....

Fantastic instructor. Very clear, concise, well prepared, engaging and intelligent. The course is hard, but he rewards great effort. Most people don't like public speaking, but Gaerte makes this class ok.
