Skibo is a great professor. Sure he isn't perfect, but he knows his chemistry very well. I would recommend taking him, just be prepared to study a LOT. Easy A if you go over lecture notes, quizzes, and the problem set before each test.

Super hard class. However, the best class I've ever taken. I've never learned so much in one semester. Dr. Skibo exploded my interest in chemistry. He covers a lot of material, so self studying is required. Buddy up with people in class and form a study group for homework and tests. Best way to learn Ochem is to talk and study with others.

The structure and content of his class is phenomenal. Yes his lectures are useless, but you cant learn O Chem from lecture anyways. He provides you with all of the tools to learn and understand the foundations of o chem in depth, and in a way where you will retain it. Im in O Chem II and it is a breeze now because of Skibo. I highly recommend him

Dr. Skibo made Medicinal Chemistry a very interesting class! He gives you hints as to what will be on the test so they are not as hard. As long as you attend class everyday and with plenty of studying, you should expect to get a good grade!

Dr. Skibo is knowledgeable but misleading. He assumes most kno his material. Exams difficult. Not by any means an easy course. Avoid at all costs. You have been warned.

Skibo knows the material but is incapable of clearly relaying it to students. Assumes a lot of knowledge that is not general. Exams are difficult, average raw scores sit around 60%. He puts in effort to have reviews but is just not a competent teacher nor does he make clear his expectations.

Took 233 With Gould (was difficult but manageable). Skibo is to much. Under-minds his students. Forgets he is teaching a hybrid course with 531 students too. Tests are hard and somewhat incomprehensible.Very time consuming course. Teaches fast and belittles students. If you do not want to ruin gpa do not take AVOID.

This guy knows his stuff. As most posts say, not terribly entertaining lectures but hilarious without realizing it and very, very thorough. His lectures are insanely planned; guy is a robot that knows exactly how long each point will take. Expects much more than other o-chem professors, so if you want to LEARN the subject take him. If not, don't.

Dr. Skibo teaches extremely well, yet he is misleading on what he "wants you to know". Exams are difficult. A high priority class if you are looking for an A. Only exams no hw. Tons of mistakes on problem sets and favors high performance from students. If you need to take this class, I suggest taking it with another instructor.

Had for both 333/334. Very detailed lectures and the tests are not easy. However, just study his powerpoints, lecture notes, previous tests and sapling hw to do well. Class is fast paced so show up. Has a terrific curve. Just put the work in and you can get an A or even an A+ in this class.

Super hard to follow during lectures. Teaches more MED Chem than OChem. Test are extremely difficult. Final is comprehensive and worth eq 2 test. Very strict Grader. Hard of hearing so dont ask questions during lecture. Very hard subject, which he makes more complicated. Very "proud" of his A+ students which he brags about, lots of favortism.

this guy really makes you earn your A. He gives you all the resources but it's up to you to take the initiative to learn. He does a lot of advanced topics and asks for work above and beyond what a typical 1st semester organic class, but its not impossible. Read the book and lecture slides before class, because he'll just wiz through the structures!

Very clear and presentful professor on the material. Tests are hard but consist of many previous problems done in sapling homework, problem sets, and lectures. Kept my interest throughout the class. Make sure to show up in order to get a good grade. Great curve scale. Book helps extremely well. I would recommend this professor.

Hardest class I've ever taken in my life. Lectures are bland and random. Not very much explanation on most concepts covered. Test are crazy hard unless you study study study. Grading scale is great because a C is a 50% or better. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!

Lectures are hard to follow and all the tests are comprehensible. He does give problem sets with some questions word for word on the test, which is helpful. Read before class, because he teaches as if you already have an understanding of each concept.

While his lectures are dull at times, Skibo truely knows his stuff and is straight to the point with the material he wants students to master. The class is very passable because he gives students problem sets (study guides) and gives them access to tests from previous years. Have to do beyond to receive an A, but that's expected.

Comment:
Lectures are confusing because there are too many random examples. He doesn't really cover concepts well he just jumps into everything as if we are already proficient in what he's discussing. Tests are too long for such a short time. The book is my best friend. Oh and his attitude seem kind of pompous.

All things considered not too hard of a class for o chem. Make sure you do the problem sets, hell half of the questions are on the test word for word, and ask questions about concepts you don't understand. Doesn't go over many concepts thorough enough in his lecture but will if you ask him outside of class.

The worst professor I've had at ASU as a Biochem major. Not only as his lecture tangential and pointless but he has a poor attitude toward his students. I would not recommend taking any of his courses.

Took Orgo with him. He may not be the most entertaining lecturer, but he is very thorough. If you take good notes, do the HW (which is extremely helpful), and practice tests you won't even need to crack open the book.
