Extremely helpful, patient, funny, and clear. Rarely have I met a teacher as capable of communicating material as Dr. Rose. I truly despised chemistry until I took it with Rose. Incredible teacher.

Mr. Rose is a terrific professor! He is so down to earth and wants the students to understand the material. He is easy to approach and his office hours are very helpful. His tests were multiple choice and not too hard if you study. It is o chem so it takes work but Mr. Rose is the best and makes it manageable. I cannot recommend him enough!

Dr. Rose is brilliant, funny, entertaining, and extremely helpful. Advanced organic chemistry is not easy, but he will explain everything very clearly and go over any concept during office hours. The best day in class was when he explained enantiomers to us by reading an excerpt from Alice In Wonderland. I would definitely recommend him!

Dr. Rose is an AMAZING professor! He has such a good sense of humor and takes a genuine interest in his students. Although the course material is difficult and Dr. Rose does have high expectations for student performance, he is never unreasonable and is always extremely helpful. If you ever have to take chemistry, be sure to do so with Dr. Rose!

Professor is very lenient, and drops one test. This is the only reason I passed. But, he is also helpful in office hours and discussion board. Don't take another professor's class. This guy is awesome.

In my opinion he is a very difficult professor. His test were difficult but he does drop 1 test so it was okay. I probably would not take him again though

Dr. Rose is awesome! =) He is an intelligent professor who truly cares for his students! Exams were tough, but if you read/skim through the book, pay attention in class, review the slides, do practice problems, and attend review sessions, you'll get an A. Yeah, a lot of work, but o-chem isn't easy. Overall, fun and enriching class!

He's a great guy and really wants you to learn! In class he can get a little dull, but if you pay attention and study his slides a little bit, you'll be fine. He really cares about how his students are doing and he's really nice! I would definately take one of his classes again.

Prof. Rose's class is definately not a cake walk, so come prepared to work. Do the chapter problems he suggest, make sure you get all your CPS and homework points, and ask questions if you start getting lost. Every topic lays the foundation for the next...if you fall behind, you're done.

Take 231 with someone else. Rose is terrible. He has no idea how much his students suffer and record low test scores don't bother him at all. His tests are not reflective of what is taught in lecture or text, and his grading system is brutal. He offers outside help, but it doesn't help you on tests, which is 90% of your grade. A lousy instructor.

Attandance is mandatory, and his tests are hard. However, he is really patient and really wants students to know the material. He will stay in his office hours as long as needed. Out of all my chem classes, he was far the best.

Attendance is a must (CPS), buy the solution manual, Managable class, he curves, allows extra credit... I had an A going into the comprehensive final, then got a B+.

Don't know how he was before but as of Fall 06 the class is a horror. The first two tests are tolerable but the last averaged a 50. Nice guy but not an easy professor- don't expect to cruise thru O-Chem with him....

Rose completely changed his teaching methodology. No more index cards, etc. Test scores are way low with averages of D-. Class average is a D+/C-. He may have previously been easy, but not now. This class has been horrible. Most stressful course ever taken. Every test question is a trick question. You really don't know what is gonna be on tests.

Notes are available on the web, which is really helpful. The 3x5 index card will be your saving grace on the exams. Plus Dr. Rose really does try to keep lectures entertaining and fun. I really recommend him highly.

He is a very good instructor that doesn't give you any suprises! His lectures are a little bland with his sense of humor, but you can make it through. His tests are not hard because he lets you use a 3x5 index card for notes each time. If given the opition, choose Pro. Rose!
