She is an amazing teacher. Took HUM 101 and 102 with her. She is there to help you and look out for you. No tests only papers and she will help you out to make sure that you do well. She wants you to come to office hours for her to help. I would deff recommend her to anyone.

She is an amazing teacher! I'm as lazy as they come and i received an A +, and her class discussions were very interesting and ammusing. Workload is reasonable and at times easy if she forgets about it.NJIT need more proffessors liker her!

She is absolutely brilliant. I didn't agree with her opinions on a lot of things, but what I loved about her was that she could cite hundreds of articles she had read in order to make you think. For any point you could make, she would have three counterpoints ready to go. She tries to engage you in conversation, not force her agenda on you.GREATCLASS

She says she supports individual thought and debate, and this is partly true. However, she usually likes to shove her opinions down your throat. Her idea of teaching is for you to read the book and do a group presentation on 1 chapter per week, and for her to comment on things along the way. I don't recommend her unless you hate autonomy.

I am so glad I had Prof. Alexander my freshman year. She turned me on to the humanities courses. She is a great woman, clear, helpful, sympathetic. I really hope she will teach at NJIT again.

Brilliant professor, she really knows her stuff and her words still influence me months after completing her class. Serene, composed, and infinitely patient with her students, her classroom atmosphere is one where a student has ample space to think and absorb. Highly recommend.

Same Class as guy below me. She is a tea sucking (every class), thick headed liberal that likes to show off random knowledge of useless things. She would assign homework, then forget to take it, not assign homework and expect it done, it was a lot of work. I am expecting a B and she told me that I'm smart, but it still doesn't change my opinion

kinda weird, she says she wants to try an "experiment" by making us read 3 novels (over 300 pages each) AT ONE TIME!!!....at an engineering school, the last thing i need to do is read over 1000 pages for this english class. I switched out after the second class. DO NOT TAKE!!!

she's definitely an opinionated professor, but she's highly knowledgeable. she tends to ramble on in class, but the workload isn't horrible for an honors class. my advice is to get on her good side--it can go a long way for those too shy to participate in class.

She has a lot of opinions. I think she talks a bit unnecessarily. She speaks her mind and sometimes offends her students SLIGHTLY. I was offended on occasion. If you participate in class, she will likely boost your grade. If not then oh well.

She really is an amazing teacher but to prior comments she is in no way an EASY A. She brings up interesting topics and has you thinking of crazy things in different ways. I would advise outspoken conservatives to stay away. The class is tough, especially honors. She does play favorites, so you might want to speak up and say something intelligent.

Elena Alexander is a difficult professor to judge. If you like speaking up in class, write well, and are not easily offended - the class is an easy A. If you are lazy, reserved and argumentative - you may not do so well. She is a little insane and random, but hey, she keeps class interesting.

Anyone who commented poorly on this teacher simply did not apply themselves at all, had no interest in the course at all, and thus probably got a bad grade. She cares very much for every one of her students inside and outside of class. The readings are wide ranged and incredibly interesting. She drives her students to become better thinkers.

Awesome teacher! She doesn't play favorite like many on here said. Those students who don't mind engaging in class discussion will obviously do better. The class was very enjoyable and interesting.

One of the only professors I deeply respect. Outspoken and motivated, encourages her students to be the same. A 'tough' grader because wants to give you incentive to improve, not to take joy in seeing you fail. A kind and interesting soul. If you enjoy writing, she will make you reevaluate a lot of what you think you know and mature as an artist.

Contrary to other comments left here, I thought that she was a very good teacher and the class was a breeze. Time would go by relatively fast compared to chem or physics. Lots of current event discussions.

Class is easy. Professor's ideas are a little off. Don't believe every word a person says unless you analyze it yourself.
