Comment:
I loved professor Sussman's class when I took it a couple semesters ago. He really thinks the world of his students and is a very nice person. He tends to meander mid-sentence but in general he brings new and interesting viewpoints to material that could be much worse. I 100% recommend his class, and if you take his recitation you will learn more.

Can't stay on track at all. Make sure you get his recitation section -- he gives everyone in his section an A. Unfortunately, my TA was terrible -- tests were outrageous and most of it wasn't covered. I don't think there was a single A in our class

Actually he tried to make classes fun but wt he said was not organized, just depends on the TA's, classes were relax. 3 quizzes and two papers, not that difficult but quiet waste time when doing them.

Did not get a thing out of the class. Walked out everyday asking myself what I just learned. Had him for rec. Not a single test, just 3 quizzes, all essay based. Make up anything remotely logical and you will get an A. Should probably read the texts, but it is not needed. He is very passionate about history and has a good sense of humor. Easiest A.

Prof. Sussman is probably one of the top professors. He is extraordinarily intelligent and very enthusiastic. His hippy-tendencies definitely have there place in the class, and although he may be a bit spacey at times he's always interesting and very entertaining. You could probably get away with not going to lecture, but it's worth it anyway.

If one has to take UGC 111, which most do, I would suggest Prof. Sussman to them. He was very enthusiastic, energetic, and just plain happy whenever he was teaching. He would compliment students often and encourage them to keep going in the semester. He is a wealth of knowledge. I enjoyed the pictures, music, readings, and artwork he exposed us

I was terrified going into this class because history was never a strong point of mine. You may walk out of class not understanding a word he says, but the quizzes were all about concepts and the readings. If you have him for recitation make sue you actually read and talk in class.

easiest 112 ever... i didn't open the text book at all during the semester... two 'quizzes' and 1 'final' which consist of two essay questions which you could pretty much make up the answer to and still get an A... no need to go to lecture just go to recitation

Most interesting class I've had so far. Sometimes goes off on tangents, but is hilarious to listen to. More interested in teaching ideas rather than names and dates. A lot of reading in the course, but better than most courses.

Professor Sussman is definitely in his own world -- but that's typical of Comp Lit and Continentals. He is willing to entertain any idea you bring up.

Very bizarre. This man looks and behaves like his brain went through a microwave. He goes off on tangents all the time, and lectures are just weird. Recessitation was messed up too. It's a very easy A...but you'll feel like you're on drugs.

Funny in an odd way. His belief is that you should only need to know major concepts. Preps you for quizzes and evertyhing. Don't need to go to lectures either.

This class was pathetically easy. No need to go to lecture, no need to read the book. Go to recitations and you'll pass this class without doing anything.
