Comment:
She said some things in class that are pretty wrong and mildly stereotypical. Honestly, I missed a lot of class and she said she will drop you for missing more than 6 classes but I still finished and got a grade. She refuses to allow you to use a computer or cell phone, so you're forced to hand write things.

This class is very discussion heavy. At least for me, I really got into it and pretty much every topic makes you think deep about how people socially relate to everyone and their surroundings. Very good elective to take, and teacher is extremely open minded.

My issue with her is her test policy and attendance. She doesn't really test you on class material but almost completely on reading done on your own. These chapters are rather lengthy. Also if you miss class you are down graded heavily (half grd for 2 cl). I had to put more work and time into a psych class than my engineering classes just to pass!

She knows a lot about the course material and is always enthusiastic! Attendance counts for a grade but if you miss class, you can do a short make-up assignment (takes about 20 minutes) to get all the points back. Lectures are never too boring or long because she adds in-class activities which keep you focused and attentive

Professor Fertig's powerpoints, hand-outs, and other documents are all meticulously placed on Blackboard throughout the course. The class itself was very easy, but amazingly boring.

Professor Fertig is one of the best HU/SS profs at MSOE. She makes class interesting and interactive, and provides all of her notes/powerpoints & handouts via Blackboard. Her writing assignments stem from class discussion and are pretty straightforward. If you take notes on the lectures & follow her handouts, you will easily do well.

She seems nice, helpful, and made the class fun. However, grading can be a pain. Some grades are reasonable (exam questions) but some are head-scratcher (papers). In the end, ATTEND CLASS, READ THE BOOK AND FINISH THE STUDY GUIDE.

Great Professor! She is kinda of odd but is a great teacher. She knows her stuff and you'll be amazed at how much you learn. She gives out these review notes and if you do them you'll pass with a great grade. Tests are not that hard at all.

She goes over the chapters in the book on PowerPoint and has class exercises maybe twice a week, if that. If you read the book and do the worksheets (not mandatory) you will do fine on the tests. I had no problems keeping close to a 100% with this strategy.
