Comment:

I don't understand where all the hate on this beautiful soul is coming from. JF's a great prof, he answers emails quickly and gives pretty easy material on his tests. His lectures are fun and engaging. Don't listen to everyone who's giving him a poor review, they're probably mad because being able to walk and talk isn't enough for his class.

Comment:

One of the worst profs I've had in my university career with a huge ego problem and seems to be full of himself. Very unapproachable out of class and barely replies to emails.. First day of class tells students to not worry about taking notes as everything is posted online, however only posted the lecture questions without any solutions. AVOID!!!!!

JF was honestly terrible. His lectures were all over the place, and hard to follow. I have the final tomorrow and I can't even learn the material because he hasn't provided any answers to practice questions. At the beginning of the course he said, "no need to take notes, everything is online." So i didn't, and i regret. There are no answers.

Lamarche is all over the place. he is very difficult to follow and often makes easy topics more difficult than they have to be. be prepared for proofs all semester. His tests are fair and his assignments are long but very relevant to the real world. I would recommend purchasing a textbook on the side to assist with understanding course material.

I've attended every lecture and lab and still fail to fully grasp the material. The TA can barely speak english while trying to get the material across. I learned far more from youtube videos than I did from the professor and TA, which still isn't saying much. Does no useful examples in the lectures and even when he begins one he doesn't finish it

I have no sweet clue what is going on in this class. Attend every lecture, TAs don't speak English. Prof doesn't reply to emails. If he holds online chat hours they are helpful, but doesn't follow his own schedule. The assignments are impossible. The first midterm is good and the second one is awful.

Okay, where do I begin, told TA's they were not allowed to assist students in completing assignments, his assignments were borderline impossible to do as an individual and took forever to complete and pulled a trick move on the exam by informing the class there would be mostly multiple choice and instead made it 75% short answer. Summary = Horrid.

class notes are posted online, but sideways. lab TA's do not know what they're talking about when it comes to assignments and requirements. assignments were very difficult and he added a third assignment in the last 2 weeks of class. lectures were boring and drawn out, moves slowly through material making it hard to pay attention

I loved JF. He was a great teacher, and every time that I went for help he welcomed it. Of course the material was dry, but he made it interesting. You will have a place in my heart JF, always!

I liked him. I didn't like his teaching method so much, it was kind of all over the place. But once you actually sit down and go over what he did in class, it makes sense. The assignments were great. And I think he was pretty easy in his marking.

Actually, he is not that bad! Work hard and prepare everything b4 go to his class! he is a fair marker but his stuff is hard! Before you go to ask him questions you should try your work and show him what you know and what you don't know than he will tell you what you need!
