took him for both ethics & crit. thinking. He's very knowledgeable and caring. really does want all his students to pass but you have to work for it too. he goes over quizzes & tests w/ study guides. 1 10pg at end of ethics semester & 1 full page paper due for crit. thinking. he'll also drop your lowest quiz. he's abstract so record his lectures

Professor Benson is knowledgable and passionate about what he teaches. His lectures were simple enough to keep up with and he provided lecture outlines for us to follow. One longer paper due at the end of the semester, but we were allowed to pick the topic, and he was very helpful with advice on research

His class include him lecturing the whole time, he speaks really fast so would advise to bring in an electronic device to take notes. He goes over the questions that would be on the quiz and gives you the answers. The quiz is exactly like the study guide. There is a 10 page paper due at the end which sucks.

Jon Benson was no help whatsoever. He'd pick favorites and never help you out even if you showed up to class.

The teacher lectures every class period for the entire class period. There is no in class assignments readings videos etc... basically 4 test/quizzes plus a final and a 10 page paper determine your grade. Would not recommend if you know nothing about philosophy or do not enjoy philosophy.

DON'T TAKE BENSON all he does is lecture and his notes are useless. he gives the "correct" answers the day before a quiz and when you write it word for word, he still gives you a C-/D+. he doesn't have a grading criteria, he makes it up. 2 quizzes , 1 midterm 1 final and 8 page paper. i didn't learn jack, don't even buy the book

His class consisted of 2 quizzes (he drops the lowest grade at the end of the semester) a midterm, final and an 8 page paper. He goes over the whole study guide with you before you take the quiz and the quizzes consisted of questions from the study guides word for word. Usually leave class early. Cons you cant keep track on blackboard

He knows a lot, that's for sure. However, he has NO grading criteria. He just puts random letter grade and you have to deal with it - I even once compared my work with my friend's one and he got a letter grade lower for the same quality of his exam, if not better to be honest. Very vague and unclear. There is no doubt you will learn a lot from him.

Best professor I've had, bar none. Intro to Phi was lecture heavy but incredibly interesting and thought-provoking. He won't always give you the answer, but he'll make sure you find it. I believe we got to use notes for the quizzes and the only hw was one paper which he will happily help you with. Would 100% take again, amazing teacher and person

He's an extremely caring person. The quizzes and tests are easy as long as you attend every lecture and take good notes. Many professors are intelligent in only their field but just by his speaking, you can hear how educated he is. Genuinely interested in you understanding material. Book completely optional. If you take philosophy, take him.

Mr. Benson is not a bad professor, but he is not the easiest either. Have to pay full attention to his lectures or you may miss some vital information. He is there if you have trouble with understanding something. At the end of the semester, you must turn in a 10 page paper. He would not be my first choice as professor, but he gets the job done.

Really good guy and is always ready to help. But only has 4 assignments in the class. Must go to class and pay attention otherwise it would be impossible to pass. Make sure to write out everything you know for his exams and try to use his own words for the best results, Also give examples. Final paper is 10 page minimum but spread out the work.

Professor Benson is really a great teacher, while he is not easy, his class is not hard to pass: he is always willing to stay after to clear up any questions you have or even just talk with you.. he is always reachable via email or phone.. Harper is lucky to have such a fantastic professor!!

One of the best teachers out there. His classes are not very easy, but they're not very hard either. I know a lot of people don't like philosophy, but you just have to put in some effort. Listen to the lectures, participate a little bit in class and you will find it very rewarding.

I LOVED his class! No textbook, attendance is essential. He lectures fast, so write down everything you can. I went back to my notes after class and rewrote them, that way I had a chance to fully grasp the concepts. He goes over quiz questions the class before & tells you EXACTLY what you need to know. Gives lots of fun examples, easy to follow.

Do yourself a favor and don't take him as the teacher. Literally just talks to himself & blows through material because he understands it- but the students have a hard time keeping up. Very vague. Attended every class & studied so hard for his tests & still only received a C in the class. He is not worth the stress.

Prof. Benson will go out of his way to make sure you understand. He would repeat himself in many different ways to deliver the info. he gives a review class before each test. no hw, one 10p paper. Easy grader. He is the best.
