Comment:

My biggest complaint about this professor is that he is just so mean. He will scream at and belittle everyone in the class. He is confusing and goes on random tangents that have nothing to do with what hes teaching. His class was very difficult to follow along with. Lots of homework but its never graded.

A really great professor. He genuinely wants you to pass but you still need to put in some effort and do the homework exercises. I recommend attending all of his lectures. He is a little fast for me personally but his lectures are top notch. If you take good notes of the examples in class you're set.

The greatest professor Ive ever seen!!!! Must take him!! He doesnt require attendance for this class but u need to go to the class to learn the math skills. Its much easier to use his way to solve problems than figure out by yourself. All professors teaching math 140 have 1 to 2 quizzes per week and Dr Gil will always remind quiz date on canvas.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND gil for math140 AND math141. He is such an amazing prof and is very willing to help you. Expect around one to two 10 point quizzes a week with two to three problems per quiz, but the quiz questions come STRAIGHT from the homework so DO ALL THE HW. There are also online webassign homeworks for each section.

I found Calc 3 material to be the most challenging but Dr. Gil made it very reasonable. He is honestly so wonderful. His quizzes are from the homework and he wants to see everyone succeed. If you are putting in the time to learn then the class is doable. He is always available in his office and is EXTREMELY helpful. Would recommend him 1000x.

How to pass: Attend every class. Pay attention. Take copious notes! He gives excellent notes! Ask questions. Do ALL of the HW! Quizzes come from HW! Visit office hours/tutoring if needed. Dr. G. will always take time to help and explains things thoroughly. He cares very much about helping students succeed, but you have to do the work!!! Study!

Dr. Gil is a joy. I have too many nice things to say about him. Lectures are precise and very understandable. He is always willing to go the extra mile with you. Hes always in his office and will invite you to come and ask questions. Hes really fantastic at working one on one to address a students personal issues in the class. He is a must take.

I loved him, go to office hours and he will explain everything you don't understand. He does say "it's trivial" a lot which gets annoying and really doesn't make sense. 3 exams and a final, about 12 quizzes and 4 of them were dropped. Homework was optional but do it since quiz questions are from the hw. Would def recommend him, take him if you can

Dr. Gil didn't help me out whatsoever and often would say things like "It's trivial." What is that even suppose to mean? He expected us to know things before he taught them and wasn't the greatest at teaching.

Dr Gil is an awesome guy but you have to do the homework and pay attention if you want to pass the tests/quizzes. There is a quiz on almost every section you do (they add up). ALEKS ARE IMPORTANT THEY HELP SO MUCH!!!! He is always willing to help everytime someone has a question he is more then willing to answer it all the time.

Tbh I didnt do well in the class, but Gil DID his job and taught the class well. But in order to really pass this class you can't depend on the fact that you've always been 'naturally good at math'. Because guess what, I have always been great, but I forgot this was college, everything needs alot of work. Your gonna end up dropping it if you dont.

Literally best professor. He is making me love math. Going to try and take all of my maths with him. He is absolutely amazing with his explanations and he genuinely wants to see students do well. So laid back and funny as well. Getting used to his accent really didn't take long at all. If you need math he IS the professor to got to.

Dr. Gil is AWESOME. I am absolutely terrible at math but Dr. Gil goes out of his way to help you outside of class, with office hours, email. etc. He is really nice and funny. Grades fairly and will recognize effort if you are trying hard. Awesome. Definitely would suggest if need math 40

Lectures can be really confusing. Content is much easier than what is explained in lectures. Professor is really helpful if you make use of his office hours. Gives an extra credit quiz to boost the grades. Exams are not difficult if you study and do the homeworks. i didnt like his grading system where all of the grade is based on three exams.

Dr Juan is hands down the best math teacher i have ever had! He knows what he is doing, he is naturally funny/cute, and wants people to come to his office hours. When he explains people naturally understand. Take him over any other math teacher you won't regret it. I SUCK at math but left his class with a B

LISTEN!! HE IS THE F**king BEST! I entered college struggling with math in HS but Gil has made me love math to the MAX. Hes explainations are made easier, he is funny and laid and gives few extra credits. Lenient on grading too. Juan Gil or go home!
