Dr. Holt is a great choice for First Year Writing. She always gives great feedback, and is extremely lenient when it comes to late assignments (she always gives you the benefit of the doubt). ENG1010 isn't the most exciting class, but thats not to the fault of Dr. Holt. If you show up, engage in class, and do the work, you'll get along fine.

BORING! Dr. Holt's class nearly put me to sleep and it felt like being in middle school all over again. Didn't learn much from the lectures or class material. She is an easy grader for every day assignments but extremely tough on papers. She gives out rubrics but often her grading doesn't reflect the rubric whatsoever. She needs her ego fed often.

Nice person. I was forced to take her class as an LCC so it wasn't my choice to begin with. Her lectures were spent going over readings and they were pretty boring. Class isn't all that challenging. Overall, she is neither here nor there.

I hate this class. I was excited to take Music of Literature, but we do almost nothing in class. She teaches stuff I learned prior to AP English in high school, but her tests are so hard it's impossible to do well! There is no rubric and her grading is solely based on how much she likes a student. Such a worthless class.

She teaches really elementary concepts - I don't feel like I've learned from this class/teacher. She expects class participation, but is very specific about what answer she wants - if you offer an alternative, usually you're just wrong. That's pretty frustrating, especially when it comes to her grading. Also seems to doubt students' work ethics.

Dr. Holt is a nice person, and she likes her students, but her class is kinda boring. I found myself wanting to skip a lot. The Service-Learning part of the course is fun if you like kids, though! It's a great way to get convo hours, as well.

Dr. Holt is great at asking open-ended questions about the text to get people discussing. I learned a lot in this class. Had 7 essays due, including a final portfolio, so obviously, it is a writing intensive course. I would take her again!

Dr. Holt is a great teacher. Took her class w/ service learning and its very rewarding. She truly cares about her students and those at the service projects. She sets high standards, but nothing you can't do. You just have to do your best and you'll do fine.

Dr. Holt is a really good professor to take! Her class requires ALOT of work, but if you dont already have a demanding schedule, it is completely manageable!! You have "reading responses" due an hour before every class period, but they are really no big deal, like two paragraphs! Only three papers due and she requires multiple drafts, & gives advic

Really easy class... no exams and only three papers plus regular reading responses, but those aren't a big deal. her class is a service learning class, but it's an easy way to boost your grade and get most of your community service convo hours in. the whole experience overall is pretty average. not amazing but not awful.

Weird sense of humor......her glass is always half empty. Seems pretty nice but she gives weird assignments and is pretty picky with papers! Only had to write three papers and a lot of petty assignments. Not a bad teacher, but the class is boring and if you want to be challenged then try someone else!

She taught my first year writing course with service learning. She gives lots of comments and feedback on the (only) three papers we wrote all semester. Uses class time for conferences for 1-on-1 guidance. Not very open minded, and she has a hard time getting the class into discussion. Overall not that bad though.
