Kiniry is a very sweet guy and passionate about the subject. He was SUPER lenient with papers and exams, and he made our final take home! It is a literature class tho, so u may need to read up a bit before class, but honestly just listen and take notes on EVERYTHING he says and youll be prepared for the midterm and papers.

You learn a lot from this guy if you care to listen. His passion and knowledge was what intrigued me to keep going to class even though you could skip out. Two papers in lieu of midterm and final exam. The questions he assigns are very straightforward and opinion based. He isn't strict on deadlines either, nor does he force anything. Great guy!

Reading different perspectives about the Revolutionary War was great. His lectures seem long but if you write everything down, you have the answers for the quizzes and papers. You will have to read some of the work for papers. Otherwise, GOOD note taking will do.

It is hard but it prepares you for more challenging classes. He love this stuff, you can tell, it was sometimes cute to watch how much he loves US history and its literature. College is for you to work hard, and although it gets annoying, having someone like him, caring,a fair grader, and kind, will definitely take you places. Challenge yourself.

BEST PROF EVER!We had a report assigned from like 2 months ago and I emailed him the day before it was due asking for an extension. He did not only give me half a week to give it in.. ready? but he also deducted NO POINTS AT ALL! Super caring, passionate about what he teaches, and certainly a kind person!Deserves all the respect there is at Rutgers

He is honestly the best, MOST CARING professor I have ever had!! It kinda sucks that he makes you work hard for it but it's mainly because of his passion about the subject. He does not take attendance, but I highly recommend going, the majority of what he says will appear on quizzes. He is super flexible and does not mind extending for papers. #MVP

Honestly Professor Kiniry is one of the best professors I have ever taken. He is extremely nice and helpful! As in any other class you get the grade you deserve. If you pay attention in class and take detailed notes you'll do fine! If you put in work and you're not lazy you are guaranteed an A or B at least. I would definitely take his class again.

Amer. LIT Difficult. Dont have to read at all. He goes over all reading material in class(take detailed notes) - makes it easy for quizzes cuz he'll pin point important info. Just stay awake & sit thru the long lectures. Quizzes every other week. Gives reviews for exams. He's super nice n understanding if more time is needed on essays. Cool prof

The material is extremely boring, extremely dense. If you want to do well, you're going to have to buy all of the nine books he assigned to purchase from online or the book store. Actually read the books, relying on his lectures is sadly not enough. Don't do this class to yourself, don't get depression like I did. He destroyed my GPA.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! I though Literature of the American Revolution was going to be extremely difficult and boring but he explains all of the readings and helps you with any questions you may have. You don't even have to do the readings, just listen to his lecture and you'll get an A. He gives you credit for the most obscure answers on his quizzes

He is very passionate but teaches Am Lit class as a history class. Amount of reading is rediculous. Quizes EVERY class - but he lectures first, however, he DOES quiz on the most obscure issues/charcters in reading. If you don't do the reading and he doesn't lecture on a point- you're skrewed. If you don't love history find another English prof!

Professor Kiniry is great. He is passionate about literature, and it shows. This course involved mainly discussion of books, which means that if you read the stories, you should be able to get a decent grade. Also, his written assignments are not too long (2 4-page papers and 2 1-pagers. Overall fair and interesting. Would recommend.

His lectures may put you to sleep since they were very boring. He was a very fair grader when it came to the 3 assigned papers, but he expects a lot from you on the exams and pop quizzes.

Professor Kiniry was very tough with the work load and the amount of novels that's required during the semester. Fair and understanding but expect to really work Because he is at times unclear of quiz topics and yes quizzes every class and about 5 papers and a final exam

Please do not take this class. Professor grades erratically and comments show he does not take care in looking over papers. Lectures are horribly boring and kill any opportunity for any type of discussion that would wake up the class. Do not risk your GPA with this class.

Took his literature for summer session. The man is unreasonable when it comes to the workload. Made us read 6 novels + 100's of page in a thick onthology book over the summer. Quiz every class, on the most obscure details of the novel at times. Gives us very weird topics to write about. If you care about your gpa, take someone else
