The class is way too hard for a 100 level. I'm taking this for a gen-ed and it is my hardest class. If you miss class good luck... His tests are extremely hard and he makes them hard on purpose. Our class average was around a 60% and he said it's been that way for 13 years. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Cool Teacher. Only have to study for tests, not a lot of other stuff. just a cool and quirky dude. Easy to ask for help and holds helpful study sessions before tests.

Professor Nickels is a super funny and interesting guy. However, he is not very helpful outside of class. That being said, his lectures are rather clear cut, but if there is a concept you do not understand, good luck. He does not even take the time to learn students' names which is sad. His tests are easy, but not worth many points.

I would not suggest taking this class unless you have to. While he is passionate about what he teaches, his notes are unclear, the tests are difficult to study for, and I find if hard to stay awake in class. He is a nice man, but not the best teacher.

Had him for Human Origins and Forensics. Marty rules. I was never bored in class. He gets really excited about anthropology and it's contagious. Oh and the stuff he teaches (race, evolution) is relevant to politics and stuff too. Tests can be tough, but it's worth it.

Dr. Nickels is an awesome teacher! I don't think it's true at all that he doesn't tell you what's on tests. He's very clear and totally willing to answer any questions you ask. He is also one of the nicest guys ever and doesn't assign busy work. I highly recommend this class.

The class was a bit too difficult for a 100 level. Professor Nickels doesn't like to let you know what's coming on the tests, and a lot of the questions tend to be very random and on things that were not talked about in depth, or at all. On the bright side, he's very amiable and fun.

Professor Nickels is amazing. Don't listen to what that other person said. He's hilarious and I looked forward to his class every week. I had no interest in Anthropology before Human Origins, and he influenced me so greatly now I'm an Anthropology minor. Seriously, the best professor I've had here, and the best teacher I've had in my life.

Nickels is amazing! I thought this class would be a total drag, because I dont really like anthropology or science, but it was fascinating, and I really enjoyed it. He really knows his stuff, and he's a nice guy. I really recommend him. Just pay attention to his lectures and take good notes and you'll be in good shape.

He was a really funny guy. But his tests were really hard to prepare for because you don't know what information he says in lecture (which is kind of all of over the place) is important. The questions he asks you on tests seem to be things that werent efficiently covered in class.

What a ****! This was a 100 level class and half of us got C's. His tests asked you to answer the most maticulous questions and he wasn't clear on what he expected from the assignments. I would never ever take this class again.

Dr. Nickels is a wonderful professor. Very intelligent and knowledgable in his field. Will grab your interest in the subject. I loved this course. He has a great sense of humor so even though he lectures the entire time it's interesting. Sometimes he is a little unclear about what he wants you to know, but if you pay attention in class and write EVERYTHING down you'll be fine.
