I took him Spring 2010. I stopped going to class for family reasons, but didn't drop so I failed. My fault. But while I was there, and what I remember: He was a droner! He had an outline of what we would be going over in lecture. Though a lot of the test was over lecture notes, must read the book! If you like to read and study, you'll have no prob!

Comment:

Mr. hummel is one of the greatest professors I have ever met. As well as a interesting person. His curriculum is nothing but lectures. Start reading NOW! And reread again untill you know everything about, give me liberty and whatever biographical books assigned. This class is really hard but if up for the challenge take it. I plan on retaking it.

If you?re suffering from insomnia, this is the class for you ? his monotone voice could put you to sleep in less than 5 minutes. It was truly painful to try to pay attention. There?s not a lot of learning going on in his class simply because the material is so dry and poorly presented - he's smart, but he's not a a good teacher and that's sad!

Dr. Hummel was a tough teacher, but very helpful. If you listened you learned. He is my favorite teacher; and only solidified the fact that I want to teach history as well. Among other things; he is probably the most intelligent person I've ever met.

Dr. Hummel is an amazing teacher. Those who complain should read the book more and take notes. If you do what he says [read and learn the text, read and learn your notes] you will do fine. Just don't let your cell phone go off during class!

Dr. Hummel is a very talented person. He is precise, organized, and punctual. The people who say that his class is too hard, or that he makes a personal decision about grades need to grow up. It's not a high school class. He expects you to work hard. Show up daily, listen well, take notes, and read the textbook. Your grade reflects your performance

Dr. Hummel is truly interesting. And if ever there were a teacher in the love-him-or-hate-him catagory, it's him. He is my favorite teacher. And I recommend him only if you (1) are interested in history, (2) appreciate classic lecture style (e.g. no Powerpoint) and, (3) like to read. If not, you will do poorly. BSing him is not possible.

If History is not one of your best subjects DO NOT take this class. The tests are confusing (a,b,c,d,e) If you are taking his class I sugest you make your money when you take the collateral reading tests. These are easy A's. Other than that attend class always and if you notice him make a mistake let him know and he will give bonus points

Don't take, he is pretty tough. Always pushing his liberal views upon the class. Monotone voice. Instead take Hagen (fritz) who uses power point and keeps the class really interesting.

Very clear and detailed; he's really a joy to listen to during lectures. However, his tests are just plain hard! Your notes may not really coincide with his test questions. Approach this class with a focused mind. Seriously. You have to catch every word he says.

Took him for both classes 1301 and 1302. I thought he was a great prof. He has that old school way of teaching. Where your test come from what you read in the text book. People who say he's hard are just to lazy to read the text book. Great professor. If you read the text you'll do well in the class
