Comment:
Professor Richert is obviously very caring of his students. But his lectures are not as useful as if you read openstax. His lectures drag out too long and sometimes can not find the main point. Might as well use the class time read openstax and do mastering chem. Besides that, he does do demos during his lecture which are a great fun.

His lectures are very boring but are necessary to pass the class as well as doing the homework. The tests are fairly easy just redo the homeworks before the test. He can be very monotone and sometimes difficult to understand but other than that the class is pretty easy considering its a chemistry class.

Really nice professor and hes obviously very smart and important in the chem world. To succeed: WATCH CHADS REVIEWS. Legit got all concepts and problem types from his either CHM 113 or CHM 116 lecture videos, I forgot the course name. Look over his slides. Lectures are boring but he does mini-labs and has some interesting anecdotes/tidbits.

I believe that the only reason I did so well in this class is because I took AP chem in high school and this class teaches the same material. I almost never went to lecture because his lectures were unnecessarily diluted with useless information and were difficult to understand. Would not suggest if you struggle with chemistry.

Dr. Richert teaches students what they need to know for the exams and is always available for extra help during office hours. I admit his lectures can feel like they drag on for too long, but they do provide ample information for the material. Dr. Richert is also extremely sweet and a great person.

Dr Richert is a teacher who does not give a lot of homework but gives you all of the tools that you need to succeed. My only gripe with the class is that the formula sheet on the front of the exams is a little difficult to read. His lectures focus more on the concepts rather than the math but if you do the work you will get an A.

Worse professor I have ever hadthere is a lack of knowledge in this guy. He teaches out of a FREE book online from Rice University rather than creating his own material. Will never teach what will be on the test; hard to hear and understand; lots of homework. In all honesty, avoid him and just take the online course.

This class is extremely easy. The practice exams are extremely similar to real exams so as long as you do those you'll get 100%. (I got a 90,100,100,100 then 95 on the final). Prof Richert is such a sweetheart and you can tell he cares about his students success.

His lectures are SO boring and his slides usually aren't helpful, but he cares about students' grades. The practice exams are super useful (study those!). He does weird EC where there are 2 or 3 "extra questions" on the test, so there are 120 points available but you only need 100/120 to get a 100% on the test (basically a 20 pt curve)

Dr. Richert is a very funny guy if you actually listen to lectures. He clearly knows and is passionate about what he's talking about, unfortunately such big gen chem lectures tend to be boring anyway. Attendance is hardly necessary if you do the homework. An 85 was an A, tests were easy and always curved 20%. You can retake your lowest exam.

Hard long class. Exams are over HW. Can say without Chad in the resource center. I would have failed. The lectures are long and boring. You will not get anything from them. Only thing I learned from the class was through Chad, and the text book. It would behoove you to buy the solutions manual. besides that.. Have fun. Glad I don't have to retake

HE'S ROUGH. HIS VOICE MAKES YOU WANT TO FALL ASLEEP, AND YOU WILL. THE POP QUIZES SUCK, AND THE AVG WAS 60% FOR THEM. I DON'T THINK I COULD SUFFER THROUGH IT AGAIN. I LEARNED A LOT ON MY OWN, AND WITHOUT GOING TO THE LRC AND GETTING HELP BY CHAD I WOULD HAVE NOT PASSED THIS CLASS. MIDTERMS ARE BASED ON HW, DON'T BE TEMPTED TO STUDY THE REVIEW.

Honestly the worst professor I've ever had throughout my educational career. His lectures are absolutely boring and almost 75% of the class is either on their phone, sleeping or doing some other homework. He doesn't upload any slides and refuses students to record/take pictures during lecture. Good luck to all those that must suffer when taking him

The homework is easy and the 2 midterms are fined, based on mostly the homework. So, you can get all possible points from 2 exams and homework. However, his final is very hard, there are nothing on the final as same as homework and final practice. So, study and prepare well for final.

Incredibly easy class, but his lectures are a bore. Worthwhile information easily gleaned from the slides and straightforwardly applied on the homework and exams. Definitely a class to catch up on reading from other courses. If you can't pass this class you should rethink your major.

You don't have to deal with Ranko much if he's just a Lab Professor. The expectations on lab reports aren't too bad, though they do tend to be not very clearly defined (and change all the way up to the due date). Students taking Elem. PChem lecture along with this will be frustrated by assumed understanding of quantum mechanics.

This class was fairly easy. We had two midterms and open book final. Class grading scale was based on 20% in homework ( 10% extra credit) 15% on pop quiz, 2 midterm worth 20% each with final 35%. Just memorize the equations and you will do great in the class. I did not learn anything else but remember the equations 4 exams. Got an A in the class.

HERE IS HOW TO DO WELL IN THIS CLASS! Do not study the slides, they will only confuse you. Go to class for the 3 pop quizzes. Do all the homework, as 10% of it will be extra credit. For the test, make sure you watch Chads reviews, and MEMORIZE EQUATIONS. His tests are based almost entirely on knowing the right equation and are not conceptual.

Avoid if necessary. If you want a good grade in this class, you are simply on your own. The slides are not what you would see on the exam. Pop quizzes in the class are what really keeps students attending. Tests are easy if you study on your own and do homework. If you are someone that learns from your instructor, avoid at all costs.

If you need the exams to be exactly like the homework or the slides because you lack the brain power to put a little thought into a problem, then you should probably not take this guy. If you can think on your own and don't mind having to attend class to catch a pop quiz then he is not a bad decision. You won't learn a whole lot though.
