Doesn't do anything beside lecture? Check Makes TA do all the work? Check Constant typos and confusions? Check Long and tedious lab reports? Check Doesn't know whats going on outside of his class? Check Long hours of computations and writing a report? Check Office hours are nice, but who cares when my first report hasn't been graded 8 weeks in.

Doesn't seem to always know what's going on. His TAs do almost all of the work for him, so that's probably why. Be prepared to spend hours on lab reports and for him to sometimes fight with the TA on what you're supposed to be doing or what the right answer is.

By the end of the semester you will feel like an absolute cuck since the TA's get to actually set up and perform the labs while you get stuck analyzing the pages and pages of data. So get ready to spend 10 hours every other week writing lab reports.

Steimle did a great job filling in for the usual professor. Yes, class was hard and lectures went beyond the scope of the course. However, Steimle was incredibly flexible in his teaching and grading style. He sought feedback almost daily and frequently approached students to get their honest opinions. Really cares about chemistry and it shows.

Steimle had never taught Gen Chem before and it showed. He did not teach general chemistry and instead went far beyond. The only reason I got a good grade was because I was constantly in his office hours, but he was extremely helpful then. If you work really hard you will do well but you really have to earn it.

Although Steimle may teach beyond the material, what he contributes to the curriculum is very rewarding. By far the most caring professor I have ever had.

Professor Steimle is a genuine man. He really cares that his students learn the material that he is presenting and is always in office hours to help, but his lectures are extremely difficult to understand and his tests are too long to complete during the allotted time. You really have to work for a good grade in this class.

Professor Steimle is a hilarious and genuine man. He really cares for the success of his students. Originally he was not suppose to teach 117. This class was VERY hard and most students started to fail. The exam scores were never higher than the 60 percentile. But, he is always there to help even past office hours. He is an outstanding person.

Professor Steimle is a smart guy and a nice man, but he was not well equipped to teach Gen Chem this semester. The entire class struggled due to his confusing lectures and even more confusing tests. I doubt he will be allowed to teach this class again. Beware.

Amazing, hilarious teacher. Will help you in any way he can. Both lab classes (348 & 349) are pretty disorganized, but the experiments are fun. Lab write ups are pretty tough and time-consuming, make sure you do as much as you can in class and do not leave until last minute.

I put much more time and effort into Dr. Steimle's lab section than my p chem lecture. I learned a lot from his recitations. Midterm and final were very difficult and not what he said they would be. Know error propagation VERY well, know how to use partial derivatives. You need to put in a lot of work to get a decent grade.

This has to be one of the most disorganized classes I have ever taken. The lab reports were never graded properly, nor was the final exam. Speaking of the final, he left the country two days before we were supposed to take it, and then couldn't any questions on the report that was due the day we got back from spring break. Never, ever again.

I used to be a graduate student at ASU. I worked for him 1.5 years as a graduate student. During that time I did not publish any paper because Dr Steime did not allow me to touch his lasers afraid that I might break it. One week before my comprehensive exam he fired me. At that time I completed all my classes and cumes.

His class was hard and his teaching style was confusing. He failed a big part of the class. Since this was a core class many graduate students were put on probation. He was not allowed to teach this class again.

Awesome teacher he is always willing to help out you just have to show up to his office hours or ask him questions during the lab experiment. The labs were fun and the lab reports did require more work than your average lab reports but they were manageable.

One of the few teachers that really cares about his students' success. He is glad to help you in class as well as outside of class time. Recitation notes are pretty intense and the mid-term/final is pretty hard. Lab reports require a LOT of work. That being said, you will learn a lot in the long run and will be glad you took the class.

His notes are sometimes slightly disorganized, but he covers a lot of material in them, and knows his stuff well. Lab reports require detail and solid thinking and analysis, yet he is very helpful in preparing them and shows sincere concern for the success of his students.
