Comment:

To all of my Graphic Design majors, I promise this class is worth it. I honestly cried and struggled through some projects, but it made me a stronger designer in the end. I am very thankful for how much he pushed me to be better. He was harsh at times, but he'll never say anything that he doesn't deem necessary. Also, get ready for his stories :)

Comment:

Pumphreys class was definitely the hardest course I took while at Lynchburg. The second semester was easier just because you learn what he likes to see in your Art, not because the assignments get any easier. Do your projects (there are alot) with tons of effort and you will pass. He gives good feedback and likes when you think outside of the box.

I had him for 3d art and design. He's really funny and pushes you. Lots of work in class and have to come in extra sometimes. Pretty laid back. You have 2 presentations for the class and the project critiques which aren't bad. Defensively recommend!

Generally, Pumphrey's classes are hard, but only because he really pushes his students to do their best. He has high standards and wants you to meet them. I wouldn't suggest him as an advisor, though. I had that misfortune, and he tends to be very condescending and intimidating on a one-on-one level.

A great teacher. Pumphery can be demanding, but at the end of the year you will have learned A LOT. Many people think it's impossible to walk away with a good grade in his class, but I found that it's fairly easy to get at least a B with Pumphery. Turn in all your work and you'll do fine.

Too many design projects at once. Classes are dull. Can be a jerk (world revolves around him). Get on his good side, work hard, and you'll take something away from it. Don't expect an A. Oh yeah, and make your projects perfect or he'll tear you up quick.
