I had Dr. Eisenman for numerous coures in Religous Studies. He is a great person and teacher. He is also a top scholar. He seeks to get students involved and interested. He has a style that can be provacative. He asks students to question and to do their own thinking. He encourages discussion. He raises important issues. Simply great!

Eisenman is quirky, engaging and challenging. He?s very approachable and willing to work with students who make an effort. He?s not a theology professor so don?t expect a believer?s perspective. Exams are based on the readings and lectures so you?ll have to work to earn an A. If you?re interested in the subject, definitely take him if you can.

This prof might not be everyone's cup of tea. (and yes that's a reference to his class) He's challenging and controversial. You gotta be open minded when attending this class. Most people are caught up in their own biases to be open to the possibility of 'out there' ideas. It takes a critical and mature mind to really appreciate this prof.

Took Islam with him during 9/11 - had to be the most fascinating lecture of my college career. He was caring, respectful and inspiring. Only wish I recorded it.

Very generous and approachable teacher. Far from boring, his lectures entertain and keep me returning in later semesters. He really cares about the material and it shows. He's also very good to the students; understanding of different views but its not always reciprocated. I tell my friends to take his classes and they have only praises for him.

A privilege to be able to take classes from a world renowned expert in the field as is Dr. Eisenman. He provides historical information that would otherwise require years of research.

Dr. Eisenman has been one of the most defining professors that I've had that seriously motivated, and challenged me to absorb the tidal waves of information in his lectures. The breadth of his knowledge on ancient texts are staggering and enlightening. His lectures had been one of the few that always captured my undivided attention.

Prof Eisenman was without doubt the most best and interesting professor I had at CSULB. He looks at things in a different way that may not suit everyone, but the open-minded -- whether or not they agree with his views-- will find it very stimulating. I learned a great deal, not just about the subject, but about approaching ideas in a different way.

Professor's Eisenman's course on the Dead Sea Scrolls was a highly promoted course at CSU Fullerton. He was very well recommended by his peers in faculty, regardless of his controversial views. He knows his material and teaches with great passion. Even though I don't agree with all his views, I was priviliged to have studies the scrolls under him.

Amazing man to learn from. Best class I took at cslub, even though I just fell into the class. His lectures are totally spontaneous and he uses no notes, totally refreshing for me. Some religious students taking this class can't adjust to his style, but he's still a fantastic professor.

While getting an A with this professor isn't all that difficult, listening to him talk about himself for 2 1/2 hours is. He will start class early, end it late, and give you a 2-5 break (shorter if you disagree with his opinion). He even proctored his own evaluation! I learned nothing about the material. Check out his wikipedia first!

Comment:
Eisenman-egotist, propagandist, not a teacher in the true sense. His opinions are not attained by any degree of insight or sensitivity. He debases outstanding scholars like Karen Armstrong, etc. In the end, teachers like him would undermine a student's love for learning. He gives nothing: lectures for himself and to trumpet his personal agenda.

Comment:
Prof. Eisenman is charismatic in his view of the treatment and view of Jews through history and how that effects a prodominantly Christian society. His opinions are lively and he appears to be passionate about his research. You can tell in his colorful lectures that he has been places and done enough reading to be able to back up his opinions.

Comment:
Extremely contraversial professor. Although he has written several books and appears occasionally on Discovery channel so-called documentries he is basically a disowned by the rest of Scroll studies academics. Attempts to link the scrolls to early Xtians and tries to "de-bunk" Christianity. His views are easily refuatble but won't entertain others.

Horrible class. EXTREMELY BORING and IRRELEVANT lectures. talked more about his encounters with the police, trips to Europe to give speeches, his dislike for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (how he even got started on that, I have not a clue), and how important it is to make a good impression on people through the books you own than religion. total bs

Prof. Eisenman is a sharp guy, no doubt. His lectures can be very boring, but are sometimes good. The class is EXTREMELY easy. Take good notes, and copy them word for word on the notecards he allows you to use on the test, and you will be fine. Don't ask questions in class. Also, although it is easy, you do learn a lot in this class if you try to.

Comment:
Prof. Eisenman knows his material very well. He doesn't like to discuss student views in class but is willing to listen during office hours. His lectures can wander but they still remain interesting and usually tend to lead back into the lecture.
