Horrible class. One reason might be because this was his first semester teaching this class and he just didn't care. I didn't learn anything from going to class or from reading the text. I learned more from wikipedia searching the different philosophers' names.

Worst class I've ever attended. The first half of the semester he was never prepared. He was confusing, the textbook was confusing, and he answered questions with random quotes from the book - more confusing. Even the quiz questions were confusing. I doubt I know any more now than when I started the class.

only reason to come to class is for in class quiz score. movie summary every week, essay and 2 tests make up 80%. his tests are the only reason i gave this class a 4 easiness. he tests on completely random phrases, very subjective. you can still get an A if you get high B's on both tests as long as you get A's on the other things.

Not too hard of a class just an annoying teacher. Says um a lot and his voice cracks. Thinks he is funny but isn't really.

Great guy... great class... I wasn't sure how I was going to enjoy the class at first, but it really turned out fantastic. Interesting points... He's a good guy and is very willing to help out. Anyone who complains about this guy or his class is just someone who wasn't willing to talk to him or ask for some help.

Goofy guy, not terribly exciting. The textbook for this class was incredibly boring, as was the class itself. The one thing that made it tolerable was that the majority of classtime was spent watching movie clips...and there were movie watching assignments where the Dark Knight and The Island counted.

As a liberal, I found White to be offensive & narrow-minded...but maybe that works for conservative BYU. Nice enough guy, very willing to help out, but he's pretty dull unless he's riled up about homosexuals, minorities, or women.

White is scatter brained and confusing. I never knew what he wanted for an assignment. It was hard to get to class because I knew it was going to be a waste of my time. I didn't learn a thing i didn't know already.

I loved Brother White. He was funny and smart. He tells you exactly what is expected on each assignment. You get to re-write all of your papers except one - and he gives you comments to direct your revision. Assignments are all very reasonable. I learned a lot about writing. The only tests are easy grammer tests taken at home w/ textbook!

Good class. Writing assignments are practical. Chance at revision for most assignments. If you write well, he will give you an A. If you are lazy and don't follow directions, he will not. White is smart, cool and conservative. Each day of class begins with a lawyer joke.

Professor White means well but his lectures are very hard to follow and very BORING! I barely learned anything in class. Almost all my learning was through my own work. It is very hard to know what he wants on a paper. One nice thing is that heis always willing to help in his office hours. I would, however, recommend a different teacher.

Wow. I mean that in a "im-about-to-die-from-boredom" kind of way. I'll say is like this: His assignments are great. Definitely things that we needed to learn, but his usage of class time is atrocious.

Easy A,hard 2attend lectres cuz boring. Not tested except 2 small quizzes.Didn't learn much and I was intersted in subject. Many easy, redundant logic exercises, a.k.a. busy work, but only in first half of semester.@ least no wasting money on textbook cuz it's online. Tip: You need only read the summaries of "philosophy readings" not the whole thing.

Prof. White is an excellent teacher. I didn't find his grading arbitrary at all. If you did what he asked you to do in his comments, and you go talk to him every once in a while, you get a good grade. Simple. He was very fair and overall a nice guy.

Not exactly the best. Maybe its just his TA, but the grading is arbitrary. Its very very difficult to determine what he wants in each paper, and even with the rewrite option, he (or his TA) seems to grade on a strange scale. And class is a waste of time. You'd have better luck looking up stuff online than depending on his inclass discussions

Professor White cannot teach without his notes. His lectures are scatterbraned at best and his expectations are unclear. When trying to explain something he normally only succeeds in confusing the class more. Always puts me to sleep, but is willing to help outside of class. Overall, I would skip this one if I were you.

The only complaint I have about Prof White is that it takes a wile to figure out what he's trying to teach. He does do a great job teaching about writing though.
