Sam Hsieh spends most of his time teaching from the corner of the classroom. Keep in mind he's teaching to a classroom of 38 so it's a pretty big room. But he doesn't utilize the full board and he writes so small it's impossible to read! He's also very hard to understand due to his accent. He doesn't teach the class. with these habits.

Nice professor who makes time to help students with questions. Material is insanely easy; he often says a topic is just a refreshment from something learned in high school. However, the most boring class you will ever take; bring a laptop or something. You also don't need to pay much attention, notes available online which can be used for hw.

Had him for 121 and 230. He's a good prof - better than the chair of the dept :O. He'll end class a minute or so early to help anyone with their problems. He will take attendence every day, but I don't recall how much it counts. Would def recommend him over any prof now that Van is gone.

Good NOON.... Class gets really boring. Same thing everyday. takes attendance every class. Test are hard but labs and projects are not to bad because you get a week to work on them.

Dr. Hsieh is a great guy. He ends the class 5-10 minutes early just to take the time to answer any questions you have. Don't buy the book for CS116; it is not at all necessary.

Nice guy, knows his stuff. Can get pretty boring and at times its difficult to pay attention. Dont bother getting the book. 2 tests and a final, 25 questions and 37 for the final, good study guides. Only complain is he doesn't use gradebook or blackboard so you never know your grade.

I have never had a professor who was so organized and prepared! He distributed handouts in every lecture that outlined the material to be covered that day. It really helped to be able to follow the handout and make additional notes as needed. Homework assignments and tests were reasonable (not to hard, not to easy).

Even though it is a large first-level class, he still has a good spirit. Very easy, and he gave me a break when I forgot a project. Glad I had him.
