She's difficult but she's reasonable. I worked my ass off and she gave me the grade that I deserved. In order to succeed in the class, it is vital that you participate and visit office hours often. Overall I learned a lot and became a better writer. Thanks Prof.

So chill, genuinely wants you to succeed, and takes the time to actually get to know her students. Is she tough? Yes, but I actually came to college to learn. I'm going to med school-- I appreciated that she graded my papers hard. I'm a better writer because I took her class.

Definitely a fun English teacher to have. Nonetheless, you will have work to do: 3 pages of writing due every Monday, and sometimes bouts of reading. She is a pretty hard grader and has high expectations (it's college, so she should), so don't put out awful writing. She does pick favorites, so be nice and participate <-- that one is a MUST. Fav.

Loved every minute of her class. She's THE MOST helpful teacher I've ever had. I learned more about how to write a paper in one semester then I did all through high school. She's so chill, funny and smart. Ignore the haters- english 1243? Didn't know that was a class...

I love Colvin! :) I had her for 110 and 150. She is chill, but still expects you to work hard. Class gets out early often. We usually have 1 writing and 1 reading assignment due per week. Class consists of book discussions, workshopping papers, and group work. She is young & fun and has been more of a mentor than a teacher for me. Take her class! :

Colvin's classes are really relaxed. It's like a chill book club. If you can't put together an original thought, her class will be hard. She expects you to think outside of the box. Beware that she expects A LOT out of you in your writing. As chill as class is, it's a big mistake to not take notes and pay attention.

Colvin is easily one of the best, most likable profs at this school. Her classes are awesome. The same student keeps coming on here to write bad things about her. She hasn't taught 140 since last spring. She's never taught 120. There is no such thing as Engl 7243 or 4139. Get a life, dude.

Professor Colvin's class should not be difficult for the average college student. If you put in some effort, you will receive an A. She allows students to act as adults (no busy work or babysitting). She is clear about her expectations, witty in the classroom, and wants her students to improve in the class. Overall, a very good professor.

Out of 21 LEAP students who had the choice to either take Colvin again or not this semester, 16 of us are taking her. 3 had conflicts with their schedule, so that's 19 out of 21. I'll take my chances with Colvin. The only students who have issues with her did bad in her class. Sucks for them, but not doing your work is not her fault.

Colvin is the sh*t. She makes Engl 110 (which is a boring class to begin with) interesting. I'm wondering if the same student keeps writing reviews, because I see the word "hip" used a lot, but my grandma is the only person I know who uses that word to describe anyone. Let's review: let's students out early on Mondays, bakes cookies for class, 2 pgs (single spaced) comments on the mid term, individual conferences so you know what's up, reading was Fast Food Nation, almost every student participates in class discussion, talks to you like a peer and not a kid. Absolutely the best professor I had last semester. She's funny, doesn't load you up with busy work, and makes you a better writer. Is she a tough grader? Yes. And whoever wrote she "likes the boys"-- don't be hater because she's pretty. I'm a girl and she was awesome to me.

Colvin is equal parts homie and professor; she's the most accessible and approachable teacher that I've ever had IN MY LIFE, as her patience goes on for miles. She won't drag out class for more than what's necessary; this holds especially true for Mondays (you'll see). She'll go out of her way to help you succeed and is a great means of support.
