I really disliked this professor, though he is very passionate about research. Only assigned 1 research paper all semester, did not grade a draft, no idea where you stand in the class. Tough grader, the only thing that saved me was the presentation of the research paper. Not to mention he chooses your topic- an author. Made me sad about English

Comment:

One of the most important courses I have attended. Mr. Ferretti taught me many of the skills that are responsible for my 3.9 GPA. Yes the class is hard. I didn’t go to college to pay for grades. If you want to hone your writing skill,take this class. The majority of the negative ratings are from people who are unwilling to work. Mr. F is awesome.

I came across this site while searching for Mr. Ferretti. Even though I went to 3cs many years ago I wanted to let people know that he was one teacher who always sticks out in my mind. And I will never forget him.

I suggest you drop this class if you have this teacher, ASAP. He is very hard and doesn't help whatsoever. The entire class grade was based on your attendance and a 6 page paper with 2 pop quizzes. Horrible and dreadful class

I have never gotten a grade below an A until I took this class. Mr. Ferretti spent all of his classes talking about his past achievements and how great he was. He would assign material every class but wouldn't talk about it and then expected you to know everything for the test. This class was not worth taking and I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

Val Ferretti was inspiring and was the best teacher of my life. I am proud to say I am the first person to ever earn an A in his acting class. If you want an easy A or don't want to work, go elsewhere. His impeccable standards and lofty expectations are daunting only to those unwilling to push themselves.

Spends more time reminding you of his successes and less time prepping you for what you need to do. In all the English classes I have taken this is the only one that only has you write ONE paper... When I asked him his advice on the paper he told me one thing but graded me the other. Not worth it, probably need to take it over.

Mr. Ferretti expects a lot from everyone, but he doesn't mince words and is perfectly willing to help out anyone who is generally interested in succeeding. If you pass his class, you'll come out with a piece of writing fit for publication.

If you want a challenge and actually desire to improve your writing skills, take Mr. Ferretti. Many complain that he is "too hard" but they are simply unwilling to put forth the effort to do well and would prefer it if As were just handed to them. Also, he's very interesting and a very nice man. Taking him again this semester.

Do Not take this class. He is a self-absorbed jerk. He reminds students how much he is respected by the teaching staff (I doubt it). He talks about himself so much. I hate him. He might try teaching and then maybe he could call himself a professor. JERK. After almost 150 credits which I have earned, I can now say he is officially the worst.

Comment:

Mr.Feretti is one of the few English professors in this school who expects his students to study as if they were attending a 4-year college. He is very intellegent and humerous, but barely assigns A's. I'd reccomend him if you are going marjoring in composition, rhetoric, or english.

Val is passionate about his subject, and extremely knowlegable as well. If you put in the effort, you will not only EARN a good grade, you will LEARN a lot. There is nothing wrong with demanding quality work - otherwise you are just paying money to waste your time and the professor's, too.
