I took Spanish 101 and 102 at NIU in 1972 and 1973. He is the greatest. He immersed us in the spanish culture and 30 years after taking his class I was able to communicate with Spaniards in 2004 when I was in Spain and Portugal. Thank you Bill....

Prof Harrison is a new teacher at Mesa. He also was an excellent teacher. Gives out extra credit assignments, all homework is online, allows 3 extra credit points after each test, willing to help you get better outside of class.

Personality a little strange and expects a lot, but if you do the work you will get an A. No doubt about it. There's no syllabus so don't miss class because you won't know whats due. Tests and quizzes are exact copies of the study guides he gives and we fill them out during class. I would definitely recommend him!

ok so you have to go to class, have to take notes exactly how he says it, and you have to pay attention. but he gives you the exact same tests of what your note are made out of, just a blank sheet of your notes. you might take the tests a few times over again but as long as you're good at memorizing its an easy A

Profe has been my least favorite teacher I've encountered at NIU. All his class has taught me is how to cram for his exams. We are made to memorize grammar rules EXACTLY as he has written them or they are incorrect. Missed accent marks have caused me to fail entire tests.

You have to be a special kind of person tobe successful with Pofe because his teaching style isn't for everyone. He is not always clear on what he wants from the students and sometimes the teaching material has nothing to do with spanish, so if you're planning to continue with spanish, you might be a little behind.

Extremely difficult teacher, there is a test or quiz every single class including memorizing 500 words to be tested on a random 50! He is a nice man, wacky and funny but man is this class difficult to keep up with. He also isn't always clear on what is happening and I found it difficult to keep up in class

Everyone who bashes Profe must have no cared enough about the class. I am in the class now and notice that those who are trying are succeeding, the others are failing miserably. He said "most people usually get an F or an A in my class. I love him and highly recommend him. The man is famous, google him. He found a dinosaur!!

I had professor Harrison in 1998 and still cannot forget him. I was a Spanish major who took Portuguese for fun, and after the first semester, could almost speak fluenty. He is wacky and funny, but his class is challenging. I loved it and will never forget him! Aurora

I had this professor for Spanish and Portuguese. If you stick with it, you WILL learn an excellent base for further Spanish studies. I found his explanations extremely clear and precise, and the class was fun to go to. Probably because of him, I ended up teaching HS Spanish. Not a class for slackers, you will work hard.

Helpful but DISORGANIZED! You'll miss more points for missing accents than just getting the answer wrong. Quizzes almost every day--unless there's a handout it's sometimes unclear what the quiz is on. You'll be marked absent for being more than a few minutes late. Bathroom breaks count as an absence. RIDICULOUS.

If you are willing to put effort into your grade, you will learn a lot and do well. I would avoid him if you are just taking his class for a requirement and don't really care all that much, but if you really want to learn the language, this may be the most helpful class you will ever take.

He is rude to his students and grades horribly. He actually gave out NEGATIVE scores on an exam. Even though it as an upper level Spanish class, he does not hold class in Spanish and showed us a video in Italian with English subtitles. He is currently taking off a full letter grade on quizzes for each missed accent mark. DO. NOT. TAKE. HIM.

Regardless of what anyone say's he is EXTREMELY helpful! It is ultimately up to you as the student to earn your grade and seek his help if needed. He gives his students so many opportunities to raise their grade, you just have to take advantage of his help. GREAT PROFESSOR OVERALL!

well when you take this class be ready for a man with no structure at all. he has his moments, he can be funny but very demanding. if you are taking it to graduate hurry up and get it out the way because he give almost three to four quizes e week and randomly gives cuts to people who talk in class. also be ready for the amount of handouts he gives

This teacher is awesome. I don't care what anyone says. He is the most passionate teacher i've ever had. Also, he will help you any time you need to. Just tell him when and where. He gives you sheets that end up being the answers to the tests. He's a fun guy.

AVOID!! AVOID!! AVOID!! Besides agreeing with all the other bad reviews here, I want to say he is by far the worst teacher I've had at NIU. I'm a Spanish Major and fluent and I can say HE DOES NOT KNOW SPANISH. He teaches things that make no sense and makes up his own language rules. Please save yourself the headache.
