Comment:

You really need to know how to read Mrs. Hawkins. Do not disturb her classes, she is very set in her ways. Is she very nice and caring? Yes! But if youre on her bad side it can be shown in your grades. Ive taken 3 classes with her and the favourites will pass with flying colours! She does care and is passionate of archaeology.

Comment:

She has very intriguing lectures with slides which require you to write somewhat quickly. She has some in-class on hand activities which are very cool, and her quizzes are not hard whatsoever if you review your notes a day before them. Lots of material over the semester but quizzes every week help remember all of it for exams.

Very interesting class with lots of hands on examples. Definitely not difficult at all as the other people suggest. Go to class and pay attention and you wont have issues. Lots of multiple choice that are basically spoon-fed to you through slides.

Multiple choice quizzes were extremely difficult, as the very lengthy review did not help whatsoever. Assignments were fine. Kinda tough class, only did it for a science credit.

Plenty of people in this class are not doing well, due to the difficult multiple choice tests and our midterm. I found the content interesting (she brings in bone samples which are super cool), but it is a lot of information to handle and is a hard class. Today is our final exam and I feel so scared for it.

- Assignments were easy, and marked really easily - She is very passionate about this class and kind BUT.. - Too many quizzes (picks best 4/5) - Difficult midterm (majority of the class did poorly) - She does not take attendance, BUT you need to show up for the lectures because she talks about things that she does not include in the slideshows

Way too many quizzes and assignments with way too much information and broad questions. Shes a tough grader and the quizzes are impossible to do well on. Most people were failing

She plays favourites with slacker students. She will take the side of students who do NOTHING over students who are learning and trying. Once you are on her bad side, WATCH OUT. She will have it in for you the rest of the course.

Professor Hawkins is a really cool lady. She engages the class. She asks us how we are doing and if we need more time for an assignment, she extends it for a few days. She even did a quick review right before a quiz... Amazing! This teaching style encourages me to learn in a more proactive way. I wish she was my teacher for every class I have.

Alicia is a very approachable professor. In order to do well in her class you MUST complete all the readings, be attentive and present during lectures, and complete all assignments. Your mark relies on whether or not you know all the definitions!

shes an average teacher but shes better in some places than others. her quizzes and exams are quite easy but i would advice against taking this class as an elective because she marks the assignments extremely hard. you also get about an assignment a week which is much more than an elective should be.

Fantastic Prof, she really pushes you. The 85% cap I've never seen, she just rarely gives 90's because of the push for perfection. You definitely know where you stand with her. Take Her Class! Put in the work get the grade. That Simple!

Very bad prof, hard marker and gives minus marks on tests. I am not a slacker, I go to every class and do the readings but I regret taking this class. Way to much work for a 1st year ANTR class. People who like her are obviously hardcore preps. There is no excuse for taking away marks for answering a question wrong.

Good prof, hard marker, caps off at 85%. IS NOT A BIRD course... have taken upper year anthro with her as well lots of work. BUT she is always clear about what she wants you to do and can be very helpful especially if you show interest in ANTR.
