Dr. Goldman really cares about his students - don't be afraid to reach out for help. That said, he's a tough grader and a stickler on written assignments which is basically the entire class. attendance counts towards your grade so show up. basically all lectures on zoom, but he's entertaining and welcomes questions and participation.

Dr. Goldman is an amazing professor!! He really cares about his students so if you show you care and that you're working hard, he will give extensions when you're struggling. He's accessible, kind, and is really passionate about what he teaches!! I know history isn't everyone's favorite but this man is a real gem and made me become a history major!

I rarely dislike my professors, but Dr. Goldman was an exception. He was very condescending when I asked questions. I did not like sharing in class because I felt like no matter what I said it was wrong, and I felt like he took pleasure in telling his students when they were wrong to appear as some sort of intellect. Will not take his class again.

I took Pompeii FYS and lectures are good and projects are interesting. Overall an enjoyable class if you like history and want to talk about it for an hour and a half at a time. Professor REALLY wants you to succeed and sometimes can be unrealistic with deadlines. Pretty harsh with attendance even if your absences are excused. otherwise great class

Goldman is a good professor. He knows the material that he teaches and is passionate about it. His FYS class on Pompeii is a HARD avoid though. Considering the class is new, the he has no idea what he's doing in regards to projects. Assigned a 300 page book to read and FINISH over a holiday weekend. Few things graded, all of them graded harshly.

Professor Goldman is absolutely amazing! I'm not going to lie, it can be a very hard class but he does everything he can to help you learn the material. There are three tests, a few map quizzes, and multiple question/answer papers (which really help to learn the test material). You will have your work cut out for you but it is well worth it!

Goldman is very nice and cares deeply about your progress in the course. He grades very harshly, and the only two tests are the midterm and final. Both of which are very difficult. It's a pretty standard class.

Comment:
Goldman uses his platform to advance his own unsophisticated political agenda, which is not valuable in the slightest to my education. It detracts from my learning, is unprofessional, and has no place at an esteemed university. Open it for discussion, or don't make it political. Do not use your position to force your opinions down my throat.

While Goldman is very passionate about what he teaches, it is a struggle if you are not equally passionate as he expects you to be able to recall info from a month earlier. The short papers and homework are also graded hard and he looks for every fact you might mess up and will take away points.

The essays and writing assignments are graded very hard. He is very passionate about history but that means if you arent the class is a struggle. The lecture's will be the same thing all semester and he will expect you to remember details from all of them.

Prof. Goldman cares a great deal for his material. I found taking good notes on his lectures came in more handy than reading did, although reading also helped to understand the material. I had to learn how to format papers through trial and error. Directly quoting sources in papers is VERY important. Goldman grades fairly and wants you to succeed.

He lectures mostly with a few exceptions of assignments. These, while important, are not difficult if you read the documents he gives you and follow the instructions carefully. An hour or two at MOST for these assignments, and there are only 6 total. His tests stem from his lectures and powerpoints, I found it a waste of time to read the textbook.

I honestly don't understand if the other people that rated him were in class with him. He was not helpful during office hours. He is unaccommodating and condescending. He gives ridiculously hard map identification quizzes. Also his lectures are hard to follow and mind numbing. AVOID!!

Takes attendance and lectures everyday. Tests are straight from power points. 3 tests, 3 map quizzes, 5 short video essays, and 5 longer focus documents make up the class. Show up to class, take notes, and study for his tests and you will get an A. If he likes you in class he'll write letters of recommendation for you

Professor Goldman is one of the greatest professors I have had. His lectures are interesting and he's an awkwardly hilarious guy. His assignments are primarily papers and his finals include multiple choice, short essays, and long essays. He has map quizzes on top of that. Learning the vocabulary and reading the textbook is very key to getting an A.

Dr. Goldman is a very sweet man but one of the more difficult professors to have for a class. You will be expected to read a lot, his lectures can be extremely long and boring and he is a tough grader but I still like him. He does all he can for students and really does care about everyone's success. I would say take him. He's absolutely brilliant!

SO MUCH WRITING. I literally wrote more than in my English class. At least a paper every week. This is a history class!! NOT English!! 3 tests, lots of HW, unhelpful in office hours
